I'm not Grammar Girl , but I'll take a stab at this... Basically, whatever you decide, be consistent. If you decide to use both ('all right' for narration, and 'alright' for dialogue), make sure you stick with that convention all the way through your story. My dictionary lists 'alright' as a spelling variation of 'all right', but that it's use is disputed (a disputed usage). So, my advice...

Hi Huicke-- You've done a great job of pulling us into the mood of whatever horror it is that claims him -- perhaps more psychological than physical. Unlike previous readers, I had no problem with the verb tenses. There was a stream of consciousness feel to it that communicated well. I would, however, be inclined to tighten the language. As I write, I keep a file of notes. When new ideas come to me, I write them down in the notes file. After the first draft is done, go back to read the manuscript, and then my notes. If the changes still seem like a good idea, I implement them. That way, I haven't lost anything, but I keep on a regular schedule.
