Quote: In the rest of GoT I believe there's hardly any more sex scenes that that. Another one between Drogo and Dany and maybe one between Shae and Tyrion and that's about it. They'll add stuff -- sex that happened off-stage in the book or have a conversation take place in the bedroom instead of where it was originally. I'm once again reminded of Charlaine Harris jokingly talking about seeing an advanced tape of True Blood...

I don't like Luap, he needs a swift kick in the butt.

LOL..... Peter's happy.... mmmmm, omnibus.... Actually, that deal with the Book Depository's very good: what's that, £6? If only we got commission! And just to keep Nickee happy, March 16th will see (hopefully) the arrival of Oath of Fealty : Look how that second cover compliments the new omnibus! Mark

No problem you Bastard. Since the last update in October, most of the stuff would be coming out in the year has either been announced or known to be published, which would explain the month-long drought in update to the thread.

Currently reading: The Wolf (Book two of the Sons of Destiny series). I read the first book not that long back, and whilst there was plenty to complain about, I still managed to find enough about it to find it enjoyable. (I guess I just like a romantic read from time to time, even if it's not all that good of a book) The Relcutant Swordsman was a quite enjoyable book, but it was also one of those that wasn't very easy just to pick up...

I thought it was ok, but after showing some weakness early on, Paksenarrion is just too perfect. And in her world, good always wins over evil.

I'm a huge fan of Holdstock's Mythago stuff, Mythago Wood and Lavondyss are two of the best fantasy books I've ever read.
They're very earthy books even though they deal with some pretty weighty themes (especially Lavondyss ). I love the way he conveys the smell and grime of pre-historic socities and his use of imagery is amazing, For example his version of the green man is very ...

I've read The Lord of the Rings seven times (just finished it last week), and I always end it differently.
I've read the entire appendices at least twice. Other times, I read excerpts ( the best parts) as you described above. Still other times, I've been known to launch right into The Silmarillion (if I haven't read it in a while).

Robin Hobb. Any of her series', but mainly the Tawny Man. Not then ending I wanted, but the best ending it could be.

I'm often attracted to poetic, lyrical prose. One of my favorite authors, Louise Erdrich, is a consummate master of this style.

I remember seeing this on your blog Pat and thought it could be interesting. Suvudu had a post about the book, too.
If nothing else, going with Chris McGrath as the cover artist will immediately draw Dresden comparisons.
