... Kate DeSimone wins state 1600m... As a junior at Fort Wayne Canterbury, Kate DeSimone cruised through the 2009 outdoor track season all the way to the state 1600m championship title in Bloomington. At the Bluffton sectional, DeSimone post a 5:16 and outran Homestead's Meghan Terrell by nearly 15 seconds. She also won the 800m run in 2:24. Advancing on to the Northrop regional, DeSimone again had little competition, this time winning...

This question had arisen years ago in the context of relay runners who wanted to consider a 50K runner as part of the relay team. It had not been expressed this way before but that is something of a distinction without a difference. The race committee members decided on the rule that a runner could only have one registration for the race. That is, a particular runner could not sign up for multiple events. The reason is that theoretically, the...

In 2008 and 2009, the Kennekuk Running Club changed the Siberian Express trail run to Lake Mingo. Since then the DNR of Illinois has reopened Kickapoo State Park, the KRR has brought back all of the previous races to Kickapoo State Park.

Q&A with Guy Morse, Boston Marathon executive director Runners from our area and more nationwide who achieved Boston Marathon qualifying times well into the fall had their excitement tempered a bit when they went online to register for the April 2010 race. "Registration is closed for the 2010 Boston Marathon." That message hit home in November. That's two months earlier than registration closed for the 2009...

Reno didn't expect to get the snow...construction equipment was brought in at the last minute to remove as much snow as they could since they don't have many plows! They did a great job and we're glad we never had to deal with the storm of '05 in Rhode Island! This was a fluke one in 100 year storm but we wouldn't change anything. She had a great time and we did too! Gary, Will you coach a team to Nationals in Alabama...

Local races and kilometers?
Published (2009-12-16 02:02:09)
So, this past Sunday, I ran the Gift 5K. As I'm on the move I notice something, no mile markers! Only kilometer markers! I was really thrown off. I'm only used to mile splits. I had no clue if I was on pace or not. Now, I'm not complaining, I'm just curious. Is this something thats becoming more common? I've never seen it before, but I kind of hope the mile markers stick around. I don't know if I have enough...

I have ran it several times. Great course! Difference from the Huff, more adventrous, has a few hills, suchs as "steps to heaven." Same course, I
think! as the Wild Wilderness Run. Don't fool mother nature, she will give you a course that you will always remember! Glad the "WareHouse" got
you hooked!

There are, of course, three aid stations on the course, not two.
The start/finish has a separate aid station outside the tent once runners cross the timing mat. These are something quite a bit more than water stops. There is
sport drink, sandwiches, cookies, pretzels, defizzed Coke, and chocolate candy at Aid Station A and whatever elaborate creations the Birds administer at Aid
Station B.

...would mix things up a little.
Actually, marking kilometers is a tradition with us old Team Bird runners and race directors. There are several advantages:
1. You get to check your pace four times during the race (1K, 2K, 3K, 4K) instead of twice (1M, 2M).
2. It's easier to calculate your desired pace per kilometer - total projected time divided by 5, instead of 3.1whatever.
3. The ...

Hi! I ran in this race, and I placed 15th. I had 19:33 on my watch. I know I didn't have 19:12. My time just might have been mixed up. I just wanted to let
you know. Thanks for hosting this great event!

the article then looking at the results, the PRT team was 2nd to the KGB team ( shown as 4th) who had a time of 3:35.17 to the Dream Chafers time of 5:17.12.
Is there something I am missing as a DQ or something ?
