Welcome December Quitters!

Good Gosh Miss Jenny....posting our "dirty secrets" is what family is all about. [at least a good Italian family] Nothing you could say about your nicotine drug habit or alcohol thing could shock any of us. My last cigs. were with Coke or coffee and if I had not given up alcohol I do not think I'd be here. Man, we will make it so much harder on ourselves if we bring those "triggers" in. Isn't it nice to be free...

Hey Jim, Well I'm a day late but hopefully not a dollar short...did you make it? Well if you did here ya go...and quite frankly if you didn't here ya go.... How do non-smokers deal with the stress and crap that comes with living from day to day? Well think about that statement seriously....they handle EVERYTHING including stress without even considering cigarettes....I bet they don't even say...well at least I don't...

Welcome November Quitters

Bahahahaha!!! I was laughing so hard when I saw the gobbly-guk again in my last sig! *wiping tears from my eyes* Let's see how it looks now that I've cleaned out my oh-so-annoying-on-a-PC cache files and did a quick reboot. So, to really get fresh Aussie licorice, I should really fly to Australia! I wonder if I can talk my hubby into that one; hmmm....in the meantime, Target it is. (We do actually have those in WI...) I'm...

UGH I'm so sorry, at least you're laughing about it I guess :) Yeah, fresh Aussie Licorice.. mmmmmmmmmmm! Just did a quick search and it seems Target sells some. Not sure of this brand, but it'd be worth a try if you're a licorice fan :) Target licorice Good luck with your siggie,...

Hi Laura, I guess it may depend on the type of patch you use. I use Nicoderm and have not experienced a bad skin reaction. It "is noticeable" for about an hour, ie. you feel it on your arm when you first put it on , after that nothing. There may be people that for one reason or another are allergic to the patch, but maybe the no-name ones don't work as well, don't know cuz I haven't tried them. I use Nicoderm Clear...

Welcome December Quitters!

Nice hearing more about everyone tonight. Today has been a rough one. My attitude sucks!! I've been extremely grouchy ever since I got home. Chris ~ I never went outside on the smoke break w/ my poor husband. He actually never went until I was in the shower and I could sorta smell it on him a little later. To bad the nicotine demon got to me first and I was angry he wouldn't go smoke before...Hmm? Jealous I guess b/c I...

Julie Everything you are feeling is something we HAVE ALL GONE THROUGH. I promise it gets better. I remember the same thing. It was like the day was one big crave, I was crying, I felt like my life was over. I posted almost every word you said. I smoked 23 years and was the one no one thought could do it. I went cold turkey and after day 4 I started feeling better. I walked a lot, prayed ...

Lina, of course you can smoke. Hopefully, you're choosing not to smoke. The people that you see smoking have no choice but to smoke; they are addicted just like you were. I'd like to encourage you to get into the folder called Quit Smoking Library. There are a number of good, short articles in there that will address some of what you are feeling. In particular, I'd like you to read the ...

You did a good thing by going for a run. It's important to find new or different ways to handle stress. As smokers, we always ran from stress by going somewhere to smoke. But the cigarette never made the stressful situation go away; it just deferred it. Just think of the millions or billions of people who don't smoke, and it becomes painfully obvious that there are ways to handle these ...

Hello.
I just signed up today. I have been smoking for seventeen years and have progressively gotten worse as the years have gone by. I am a single mother of two girls, which I know I set a bad example for... I'm an educator and am currently working on my second graduate degree (the excuse of work stress and "other" school stress is always my reason for just picking up a pack). I really ...

Thank you, Pancake, for letting the new quitters know what NOPE is. And I will tell them what it means to me.
When I was struggling and feeling like I may possibly lose my quit, I remembered that I held someone's hand that morning and pledged that I would NOT smoke on that one day. Then someone else held my other hand and did the same.
I took the pledge seriously - still do - and ...

Hey Lisa -
You can't give in today because you have my hand and I have yours. We pledged to have Not One Puff Ever. If you were to smoke, these nearly 3 weeks will have been for nothing.
Read the quotes in my signature and truly believe them. Then take deep breaths and get busy doing something else. Its a new week and soon you will have another dot. Don't do anything to mess that up...

Dear Jim,
Hang in there. I had a similar post about two weeks ago. Which would be around 17 or 18 days into my quit. I've been here on this forum about two more weeks than you have and I have seen the same posts from others with that time under their belt. So if it helps you are not at all alone I think that you're the majority. So CRY, SCREAM and YELL, but don't have one puff. Just ...

Sorry to hear you're having a tough day Laura. I don't know what you have been doing to fight the urges for the past 2 weeks but keep it up!
I had a horrible first month but I made it through with deep breathing excersizes, ice cold water, pacing the floor and sucking on a lolipop. Did it for a whole month. I'm better know, so I know you can make it!
