I think that judging a teacher (golf or otherwise) based on their own achievements is a waste of time. Teachers are good at teaching and as long as they have a reasonable level of skill and understanding to a point, everything else is unimportant. I am pretty sure every swing coach of every PGA player would be a worse golfer than the person they're instructing.
