I'll tell you right off the bat that I HATE scoring music. But someone needed some sort of score of my music so I down loaded Sibelius First and went for it. I'm converting midi to notation so I have spent may, many hours editing the midi file to where Sibelius could use it. Sibelius loves to string tied notes together when many fewer are actually needed. It seems to have a mind of it's ...

Hi all Sorry this is way OOT but... 1) I can't deauthorize Finale (haven't tried authorizing yet, but thanks to Andrew of the Finale team for manually resetting it for me) 2) I can't login to the Finale website (where I can download patches and order upgrades) 3) I can't login to My Stuff in customer support too. (I used my friend's machine which is running in Vista to send the ...

Hi, I've been using Cubase SX3 with VSL solo strings to do a string quartet, but I always run out of memory. Is there a way to keep some of the plugins from loading so that I mave more ram available for samples? Basically all I am using is VSL and SIR (4 instances each), so I really do not need anything else. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Paul Dell vostro 1500,...

I have exported a score from Finale 2009 as a .mid and imported it into Garritan. I used the notation instruments. The problem is my sax section is much softer than the rest of the band. For those of you who have not done this, Finale, I guess as a part of human playback, shapes the volume of each note. Of course, nothing is ever that simple. I tried using the velocity offset in Sonar ...

Many thanks, Nickie and Per, for your useful tips. I've now downloaded the Sibelius demonstration videos and some bits from the Finale site including Finale Notepad. I think, so far, since there appears to be so little to choose between the two, I shall probably go for Finale price wise-----unless, of course, someone tells me that Sibelius is more easy to install or work with. By the way, I'd ...

I just bought JABB...How do I get it to work with FINALE 2006? The only option seems to be the SMART MUSIC synth that comes with the program...P.19 in my manual starts to discuss, but seems to get "cut off"-like a mis-print. Can it be used with 2006? How con I do it? Thanks.. James

Title says it all. I can't figure out how to get the midi thru to work in Cakewalk7 with GJaBB, nor can I figure out how to save my set of instruments and have it load when I open the sequence. Thanks to Iannis for helping with other questions. Brian

What is the consensus on notation versus sequencing programs. I have never found an adequate way to manipulate midi data in finale but I may be missing something. For example, how would I change mod wheel data in a simple way to add vibrato. Could I get all the alternative attacks, breath noise, key noise for example, to happen as a result of an expression mark? The reason this is such a ...

Okay, I'm a newbie to composing ( I can notate and read a little), and I have pretty much a zero budget. Can anyone suggest any nice freeware programs for making music? Decent free orchestra samples and so forth. Be gentle. Score lover, Justin
