Hello, One of our users reported that Microsoft Office Document Image Writer printer disappeared from her workstation (windows xp sp3). I logged on with a admin account to the workstation, and recreated the Microsoft Office Document Image Writer printer. After that i tested the image printer and everything works as it should. Since nobody has chimed in I'll toss out my quick two cents... Depends on your setup and which files you're needing to grab. You can pop the drive out of the machine and slave it to another working system and then just copy off your files. Or you could use a Windows PE disc and boot up and copy off the files to a USB drive. (in reply to bbrc38 )

*** One additional (important) thought on this topic... It would be wise to change the permissions on the "C:\SerialComm" folder and contents to allow access only by the "Local Administrators" group. Otherwise, a user who is smarter than your average bear could potentially modify the "serialcomm.txt" file and give themselves permission to any registry key. As with any custom fix like this, ...
