Go into your BIOS, change your hardrive mode from "AHCI" to "compatibility" mode.  New HD might use AHCI mode while some of the installation kits do not have AHCI support.    Use "compatibility" mode to identify your new HD, then make sure any new installation CD/DVD included AHCI driver for your laptop HD controller before proceed else your drive moght not be recognized during the ...

Make sure you have updated to the newer version of Rescue and Recovery.... the old version was insecure and got viruses...

which T60 model do you have, what GPU does it use, the Intel 950 or the ATI x1300/1400?

What Windows 7 version did you install?  Only Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions can enable XP mode.   You need to update your video drive which should have included in the Windwos 7 package.  You can go into Device Manager, remove the display adapter from the list and do a scan on new hardware to see if W7 will pick the right video driver, else manully installed in ...
