Flying on the side...whats out...
Published (2009-11-24 13:06:00)
Being a CFI on the side isnt to hard if you have schools in the area that allow part time guys. Even if you dont you can do it as a independent CFI. Like in my area there is both an airplane and glider school that allows part time guys. So I'm going to be doing both next summer. Its all about just figuring out what works in your area. If you have a parachute operation in your area alot of times they are looking for weekend pilots. So that...

I can't say what privatization would do, but I can say that government owned airports tend to dissuade competition. At our home airport, the airport authority is in bed with the ONLY FBO on the field. The land use ordinance actually calls for more than one FBO, in the interest of competition. Every time a proposal is made, however, the potential competitor is told there is no land available on...

Re: 141 versus 61
Well even though 190 may be the minimum in a 141 school, it doesn't necessarily mean you'll get signed off with that amount and i am also strongly against the saying that 141 schools are "better."
Take two of my friends for example.
Friend A went to American Flyers to do his PPL where you can get signed off at 35hrs for the ride but he didn't get ...

My thought is-depends on where the student wants to go? Airline or Corporate-just be used to the glass. but either way-unless you can find a glass complex airplane for them to use for commercial, they'll be using steam anyways. unless they get a Bonanza G36 or something, which would be pricey. Otherwise, if it's just a rich doctor wanting to fly his Cirrus-let him learn in the Cirrus and get him ...

More right aileron needed at 2:59 was all that took over my mind when I saw that.

I would suggest not selling them anything.
If they know you have not been in the game for a while, while knowing how much they plan on paying you, they know you will being moving on soon even if your intentions are honest. Even if you do succeed at being a career instructor, that will only most likely happen as an independent. They know that. IMO.
I personally think a better tack would be...

You win....
I have done a good amount of acro in an on NS2 Stearman. Other than that I would say the temco globe swift with stick conversion was fun. Cessna 195 and beaver were both nice nostalgic radials.
Thats about it for me........for now.

Did he retract gear instead of flaps or are you saying full power and full flaps in the 172 (?) RG puts large pressure on the nosegear?

NDB Approaches
I had a question for the instrument rating flight test. Are you required to perform an NDB approach during your instrument rating exam? I read the Instrument Rating Practical Test Standard April 2004 version, and it said:
The required radio equipment is that which is necessary for communications with ATC, and for the performance of two of the following ...
