well my nVidia MOBO came with a program I can just adjust the fan speed on in real time, but i usually leave it on auto. gateway is more a stock computer so it wont have advanced options, but maybe you can flash the BIOS and downgrade to the original version with extra fans it would probably not overheat.

Getting around trial periods ranges from stupid easy to ... holy crap I have to reformat. I wouldn't really suggest taking that route unless you knowledge of your operating system is high to very high. Which judging by the question it really isn't.
