Long sideburns

Quote from: AmericanGirl on December 01, 2009, 09:12:16 PM Well I'm not sure when they first got popular, but IMO sideburns were popular throughout the 70's. As a teen girl during the 70's, I tended to notice such things. A good lookin' guy with nice sideburns - ooh la la! Lol. Did you like the uber-long Elvis burns like muttonchops or like the more moderate, say mid ear...

The copy I had featured a little 'how it was made' section at the end, complete with bad 70s suits and voice modification.. hysterical.

Quote from: yelimsexa on December 04, 2009, 08:42:33 AM I wasn't born yet when the switch occured, but from what I've read the 1970s really had a trend toward multi-screen theaters, particularly in malls and shopping centers (though it was more like a 3 to 8 screen design as opposed to the 10+ of today's multiplexes). At the same time, many of the single/double neighborhood theaters were in decline or closing...

I copy/pasted below a bunch of top 100 singles that I dug from '73 from the Cashbox charts (I was 10, so cut me some slack). All below still hold a strong nostalgic value for me, but I italicized the tunes I really liked back then and bolded the ones I still dig today: TIE A YELLOW RIBBON ROUND THE OLE OAK TREE – Tony Orlando & Dawn, BAD, BAD LEROY BROWN – Jim Croce , DELTA DAWN – Helen Reddy , CROCODILE ROCK...

Quote from: Ryan112390 on December 01, 2009, 09:28:10 PM Lol. Did you like the uber-long Elvis burns like muttonchops or like the more moderate, say mid ear length burns? Hmmm. The huge mutton chops could look a bit extreme, but a few guys pulled it off magnificently. Usually medium length (a little below the ear), straight, neat - that look ws pretty mainstream. And mostly good.

The antiquated movie house in Vallejo (The Empress). I think it had a single screen. Last flick I saw there was a double feature in 1985 and it closed shortly after. I do remember it being converted onto a night club and bar for awhile... Also in Vallejo was the Cine 3. Last flick I watched there was Stephen King's "Misery" in...

the town in the UK I grew up in had two cinemas when I was very young. (My parents remember two others). Anyway one had just a single screen (it closed sometime in the early seventies and became a bingo hall). The other cinema has always had a few screens. In the seventies and eighties it had four screens (two large for the 'big' films and two smaller ones). At some point in the...

I tried to view that page, but it said I can't watch those because I am not in the United States. Damn country specific websites The original Bionic Woman is on DVD. I see copies of it all the time at the Sam the Record Man store, that I often frequent.

My most vivid memory of that year was HM's Silver Jubilee celebrations that summer... So in honour, everyone got the day off and had a street party, which would have been great if the weather had been not unlike a day in February...it was freezing! Seems Liz has a thing for having 'celebrations' in averse weather...when she was crowned in June 1953, it rained all day!

"The Search for Bigfoot" was a favorite back in the day. And although it wasn't a documentary, "Food of the Gods" was along the same lines and lot of fun. I saw them all in the theater as a kid and loved (and believed) every one of them.

I was 10 in 1973. I do remember the Watergate hearings were on TV all the time. My parents figured Nixon was involved as the trial went on, but how deep we weren't sure. As a 10 year old, I was more concerned that , with Watergate always on TV, I couldn't watch my rerun shows (Brady Bunch, Get Smart, Gilligan's Island, Bewitched, Room 222, I dream of Jeaninie etc..) The Vietnam war ...
