it is possible. a lug is easily knocked out and replaced. you never know what a previous owner has done. bowman316, the trailer was almost new, galvanized. when you are in a strange area, at dust, Friday evening and your wheel comes off. there are not many options. i was lucky, the wrecker driver was taking the night off, so he said he would leave the boat on the trailer till morning. i got up early, got the local phone book, and found a...

Tranny cooler for towing short...
Published (2008-11-26 00:51:00)
The only thing to add is when you hook up your cooler is to run the hot trans fluid through your new cooler first and then back through you rad. The reason for doing this is in the winter you trans fluid could gel in the cold. The rad will heat it back up to engine temp which is well cool enough for your trans.

Tranny cooler for towing short...

I add a trans cooler to every one of my vehicles, its cheap insurance against burning up a trans. You never know what you might run into that you need to tow and you would be well prepared already having the proper cooler installed. On mine, I bypass the radiator type cooler, your engine gets hotter than normal when towing too, so there's no reason to transfer any of that heat to the trans fluid. On my one ton van, I have a thermostatic...

Man, that sucks. Wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy a used trailer to replace the broken one? I am learning though the thing that sucks about old trailers is all the bolts tend to be rusted up. Mine is a 1979 trailer.

Wheel bearings should not wobble as you put it. With the wheel off the ground you should be able to barely feel any movement as you rock the wheel. The best way to do that adjustment is to tighten the nut slightly with a wrench. Then loosen it so you can turn it with your fingers. Tighten the nut finger tight and if the holes don't line up, back up to the first hole and insert the cotter pin.

I see Bass Pro sells the pads and I was all set to glue and staple some new pads on my bunks, but I have one question. How long does the glue need to set before getting it wet? If I launch the boat then go do the work in the parking lot and then pull the boat back out of the water I don't think it will be good for the glue. I can't leave the boat in the water overnight. I could do it in ...

All of my previous boats/trailers have been bunk types or I converted them before using them very much. They were all smaller boats in the 14-16 ft range. I would back the trailer down the ramp and set the brake leaving the rig in grandma gear then shutting it off. I would get in the boat and drive it on the trailer. All of these boats have been open boats and one open bow runabout. I would ...

here is my thread about it: http://forums.iboats.com/showthread....hlight=trai ler It was quite easy. The trailer was quite obvious that it was a production trailer, I removed all the stickers, and signs, and painted it with some rustoleum. While doing that I noticed the Serial numbers, I grinded thoes down, bondo'd over it, and sanded smooth. then painted. I told the DMV ...

OK, so I finally took the leap. Getting an 06 Century 1850 dc with Yam 115. I figure under 3k lbs total. No kids, just wife and I mostly. Was gonna tow it with my Dad's tubo diesel p/u but it's become obvious to me that dealing with the "borrowing" will get to be more than I wanna deal with so... time to think about trading my Mazda sedan for a combo tower and twice-weekly daily driver (...

Is it a bad idea to extend the tongue? I was thinking about going and getting a 2' chunk of steel and adding that on then i can slide up the bow of the boat to fit better. Bad idea?
