Is it me or has there been quite a few of these requests the past few days? Mods....I have a nice PDF file containing serial numbers, hp, years for Merc...great reference. I know many people would love to see this info. Is it possible to send it to you or upload it and turn into a sticky?

I was leaning towards 1978 as its an aussie motor, how did you come up with 1975, I am not saying your wrong just maybe you didnt realise it was an aussie model thanks

I own a 2003 Mercury 225 hp EFI and replaced the older dashboard gauges with newer ones. With the gauge package came a water pressure gauge. To make the gauge operational, do I have to install a sending unit on the engine?

1985 Mercury 25 hp questions
Published (2008-11-26 00:20:00)
I have a question or two about my motor. My motor is on a 16 ft. flatbottom and tops out at around 5 mph. It gets to this speed just before I turn the throttle all the way up. When I max out the throttle the motor will rev up but I get no more power. Is it a problem with the prop or something else? Thanks for the help!

Normally water pressure gauges are mechanical. You would install a small tube from the cylinder head to the gauge. Hopefully you can find a plug on the cyinder head's water jacket in which to install the fitting.

That serial number comes up as a 1997 0r 98 2.5L V200 EFI but I'll admit that merc numbers get a bit fuzzy once you get past 1996, data bases are not reliable. The impeller part number is 47-899841 The water pump repair kit part number is 46-96148A5. iboats sell the Sierra brand equivalent, part number 18-3217 (no housing or base)

I was reading in another thread where a poster (Don S) provided a link for an OEM service manual for an engine. Is this available for an outboard also? I have purchased both the SELOC and CLYMER repair manuals for my outboard and I really would like a manual specific to my outboard that shows parts and diagrams of the powerhead and lower unit. I have a 1999 Mercury 125 HP 4cyl 2 stroke, S/...

I have discovered I have a bad recitfier on my 1995 Mercury 115 hp (tach stopped working and voltage does change, go up when motor is running). Now the 2 big questions: Where do I find this bad rectifier? Is it the square black box (approx 2" x 2") on the side of the motor from which the grey tach wire comes? Where do I get a good price for a replacement?? Thanks for your help.
