I have heard such dreadful things about the bellows. I was out today and running for a while. The boat was taking in more water then normal. The bildge would run every 20 mins or so. So I hope of the back of the boat trying to find the spot of the leak. The exhaust and drive bellows were still intact thatnk god i have heard bad things about when the drive bellows go bad and the gimble bearing ...

I'm sorry if this answer was posted elsewhere, but I have been searching the forums and couldn't find my specific answer...so here it goes: I recently bought a 1974 SeaRay with a straight 6 Mercruiser 165 HP, the guy said it started idling rough last time he had it out. OK, I get the boat home and it was hard to start without applying 1/2 to 3/4 throttle. I got it running but could ...

Mine is a 84, this will be my project next weekend.... looks like they're just on with suretights clamps..maybe theres more to it not sure. can I replace them without taking the drive off? mine are cracked up some has this allowed water into my drive or into my boat?? if they were cracked enough to leak that is. boat hardly ever is used tho so hopefully everything is fine.

When I bought the boat last spring I saw a lot of nice shiny new hydraulic lines inside and out. But I didn't notice the two remaining ones that had not been replaced. These both blew out this summer, resulting in much embarrassment, though no damage. It is difficult to maneuver when the prop is climbing out of the water in reverse and you don't know it! So I bought the two new hoses, ...

I have a 1978 Orrion Eagle 17T and the only non working part is the one in this pic. I can manually set it forward or reverse. But there are some cut wires. Where do the wires go? Where can I find a replacement? Thanks!!!

Hi folks, I have a 1986 Sea Ray with a 5.0 liter 230 HP Mercruiser/Alpha 1/ raw water cooled. It has the 1st design type thermostat housing- 1 hose to each exhaust manifold, and one to each riser. If I were to remove the hoses from the thermostat housing, open the drains and put a garden hose into each hose to flush out the manifolds and risers- is there a chance the water would run back into ...

This is my first post on iboats. I'm fairly new to boats as far as working on them as well as GM stuff. Grown up as a Ford guy. Not new to hotrodding or engines though. Been reading and found plenty of useful info on here. Here is what I have. Ran into a 1986 Thompson 19' cuddy cab w/ a 230/v8 and Alpha one outdrive. I'm pretty sure it's the Sea Rge model but not positive. All my title ...

I'm gearing up to change the bellows on my Alpha 1. I see the manual shows several special tools. Will I need these to complete the job? Thanks

I'm jumping to this forum from another : http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=275272 I'm in the process of installing a swim platform on my rig. While drilling the final two holes in the transom, water started pouring out! What did I hit!?! The water is clear. It is not lake water. The bilge is dry. I've tried looking in the engine compartment, but cannot find the spot where ...

95 omc 7.4 KC ---Well I knew I had starter problems because when I turned the engine over it make a revolution or two then something would bang real hard, shake the whole boat. On the lake yesterday it worked ok with the exeption of a ocasional whirring. Today someone was coming over to possibly purchase the boat and the problem is worse, so I have removed the starter and it appears fine. ...

I just bought a new (to me) boat, and on her maiden voyage she was running fine. After about 45 minutes, I was pulling a wakeboarder, and she just died. I tried to star her again, and she would turn over, but wouldn't fire. Things I have checked: 1. There is no kill switch. There may have been one in the past, but it has ben rewired, and he may have bypassed it. I have yet to ...

OK so I searched idle overheating and didn't find anything about a raw pump? Is that diffrent than the impellar? If I have alot of water flowing through the transom inlet what would be plugged start at t stat and work through the exchangers? Thanks for your help, I would assume you can only test this in a tank or in the water.
