Try a different USB port. You can also take your 5.5G iPod to a different computer and restore it, then take it back to your Windows 7 computer and plug it in.

iPod suddenly FROZE

Yeah, Happens a lot when you are rapidly skipping through songs searching for something, It's basically just pushing the software to quick for the HD to keep up. A Restore or Reset as suggested should sort you out in no time. PS, if you let the battery just run down completely til it is absolutely empty, it will have the same effect as unplugging it and you won't have to open your ipod.

Simple dock for classic + A5's

The one in the link is the Apple Universal Dock . It is kind of pricey, the remote has limited functionality, doesn't come with a charger but it does use the dock adapters that come with iPods.

as long as there is no physical damage, you can go to an Apple Store for replacement.

Right my last update for a few days. I took the iPod to PC World and shoved it in a display Apple (covert) and iTunes saw it! iTunes had the option to restore it! But when pressed it failed becasue it had no internet connection lol. My brother's friend has a very sexy MacBook and she is going to come over on Tuesday (100 miles) to restore it for me so fingers crossed it will work. Why the hell are Microsoft such arse holes when is comes...

Please Help With Ipod Music Q

When you plug your iPod into the new computer you'll get a warning message to the effect that your iPod is synced to a different library and do you want to sync it to this library instead. Choose NO. This will ensure that you don't lose the current contents of your iPod. Now select "manually manage iPod" Now you can add new music to your iPod manually. Your next question is sure to be "how do I get the...

Walfrid gave me his ipod to try and fix, as you've read already, same problem as some mentioned here. Ipod wasn't showing up in itunes, would show up in my computer as a removable drive. Ipod also showed under settings that the drive was 0kB . It was either NTFS or exFAT in My Computer. Needed to try and get the harddrive back to FAT32 Tried the Swissknife , read/write error Tried the Fat32Formatter , got a 'couldnt determine...

Probably the most asked question here. You will have to recover the files off the iPod first and rebuild your iTunes library. You will find help in the Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide article.
Once you have rebuild your library do yourself a favor and get an external USB hard drive to keep a back up copy of your iTunes library, photos as well as other ...

Well, if it sounds good to you on the computer, your iHome, and in your headphones but not in the truck I'd say the sound system in your truck is the problem.

Maybe the headphone jack is loose? The Classic will pause if the headphones are removed.

Maybe you should list the things you tried before we start naming some possible solutions. That way you don't have to keep saying "nope, I tried that."

Hi scoss,
Do you play games on your Classic? The reason I ask is that the same thing always happens to me (repeat turns on) after I play certain games. And it's not just with my Classic - I have a couple of 5th gens (60g and 80g) that do it as well. I've gotten very good at remembering to turn off repeat immediatly after a session of games!

Try plugging your iPod into a different USB port on your computer. You can also take it to a new computer and restore it. It sounds like your iPod's hard drive has been formatted but it is missing the essential iPod files. The only thing you can really do is restore the iPod so either use a different USB port on your computer or take it to a whole new PC.

I would switch of the Autosync and manually manage the music.
Click on ipod icon in left frame of itunes, and then in the right hand frame, unclick the the autosync button. It may give you a prompt about manually managing music.
Autosync is rife with issues.

To Reset your iPod you press the Select button (the center button) and the Menu button at the same time until the Apple logo appears on the screen. You don't press any of the arrow buttons.
Also, yes, like any computer device an iPod can crash and/or die suddenly and without warning. Make sure you have your media backed up somewhere.

Ouch.
You could try taking it back to the Apple store and see if they'll take a little pity on you.

Go to task manager and check under processes ,you should see the following
ituneshelper.exe
ipodservices.exe
applemobiledeviceservice.exe
If all these are running, then i suspect a power issue,
Try a different USB port, Preferably one at the back if on a laptop.
