Why is it when you play some artists, you click from the Artists menu and it goes straight to the Song list, and others it gives you the "ALL" Menu even if you don't use Album Titles???

Go to settings in your iPod and turn compilations off.

Honestly I wouldn't even bother trying to fix your iPod. I believe ifixit is charging something like $179 for an 80GB drive. Very recently my iPod has been having syncing issues. When I hook it up, I will get a message that reads "iPod cannot be synced (error -48)", but it will appear to sync just fine. But when I disconnect it, fully half of the stuff I "synced" isn't there, and that which is doesn't play correctly, and has incorrect album art. Beyond that, when I try to sync it again, iTunes will freeze in the middle...

I have a problem with my IPOD that I believe was caused by my car transmitter/charger. I think that it shorted out the IPOD. I get the unhappy IPOD screen and the IPOD battery will no longer hold a charge. Is it worth trying to change out the battery and/or the hard drive?? or are other other component likley bad? It is no longer on warranty and the Apple store would only offer the standard replacement cost for a refurbished unit.

The only time I don't get the "All" is when I have only one album from that artist on the iPod.

As the other reply said, yes the adjustment does work through the dock connector as well as the headphones. I used the iTunes/iPod sound check feature for over a year and it doesn't work very well. I was always having to adjust the volume. Not as much as without it, but still a lot. The problem is sound check itself. It pretty much just finds the loudest part of each song and lowers the volume on the louder songs to match the quieter...
