Thanks for that, makes sense, as my girlfriend already had erica on her phone, i just removed the app and then reistalled, so erica's stuff wasnt removed. Im not trying to instal that app though im trying to instal afc2add!

This is very good stuff, and is what we need more of at EIC. I reckon there should be a Guides, or How-To's, or both, section that entries like this should live in.
Some suggested amendments for your consideration:
Probably worth explaining the difference between unlocked and jailbroken in this doc, as many new users confuse the two terms.
Where you mention the warranty being voided ...

Did you try a hard reset by holding the home & power buttons together for several seconds?
If that doesn't work, you'll have to put it in DFU mode and restore. IMO, Cydia updates are more likely to do that when you're running old FW. 3.1.2 can be jailbroken and unlocked. You're right, it's perfect timing for an update.

I just picked a theme I liked from Cydia and I use that in winterboard. Then I change the things I want using SSH. Like changing the icons, adding docks, etc. Winterboard is also good for some things other than just themes. Sounds, sliders, wallpapers and stuff can be changed using winterboard.

iTunes will still create backups, however using them is not recommended because they leave traces of the jailbreak and have the potential for causing problems. Instead, use PkgBackup to backup your jailbroken apps and Chronus to backup your stock and third party apps.
I don't know if PkgBackup is working right now.

I used the blackra1n app that was still on my phone. I tested it out with a tmobile sim and it worked perfectly. No wifi or photo issues on my end. At first it didnt recognize the tmobile sim, but I reset network settings and it worked.
