Reset the network settings- reboot the phone and see if that helps. I was in NYC in the spring and had really good coverage even in the middle of
Central Park.

If you use an iPhone, you should pay to use the data with that phone. Period. Any other set up is stealing.

You could delete it right away...though you have a problem.
The 3rd line will be $10/month for 24 months now. While that doesn't seem like a lot just remember 10*24=$240. Also don't forget that you'll be paying the activation fee and possibly the first month's data...so he's paying 240+49+$30data=at least $319! before the activation fee for the 'new' refurb.
If you shut the 3rd line ...

The biggest GoPhone data plan is 100MB for $19.99. Also, starting back in June, AT&T has started locking GoPhone sims to the phone in which they were activated for six months.
After six months, you can use the sim in any phone.

It won't try to connect once your
SIM card isn't 'activated' any longer.
...so, yes you will be able to use it as everything else besides a phone.

EDGE to me is very helpful when I am outside and no wifi connection near
me. 3G in Egypt is as slow as Edge. If, for example, Edge gives you a 4kb/s
download rate, 3G here gives you 9kb/s, so there's no difference at all;
waiting a couple of seconds for the page to open is not going to kill you.
But I am pretty sure 3G is fast as hell in the States, isn't it?
