How often has your brake fluid been changed? There may well be corrosion build up if you have never bleed 'em before. On my '02 I bled the brakes after the first yr and then every 2-3 yrs after that (DOT 4). I have to honestly say they feel and work beautifully, better then many newer vehicles I've driven.

spongy brakes I have a 2001 Escape. Heres what I have replaced so far, Drums shoes, pads, rotors Front hoses Calipers Master Cylinder. Have pressure bleed the Abs. And bled all brakes. bench bled the master cylinder before hand also. The brakes work somewhat but don't grab near top, more at the bottom third. there is still something not right. also the abs toner rings were changed. One was cracked. So after all of that I'm out of...

Just a head's up, keep in mind that those two symptoms are also side effects of a bad ground. I've seen RCA's fry because the amp tries to use them as ground. Needless to say, the amps usually die too. Same thing with things like the wiring and connections, a bad ground creates incredible heat, like an iron. So check it all out.

Considering a sale

Re: Considering a sale quote: Originally posted by ZoomZoom71 I was looking on Autotrader to see what my competition would be, and I'm a little confused. There's not very many 2005 4WD Escapes for sale on that site within 100 miles. Does this mean I can expect a slight premium for the 4WD? What's a reasonable price expectation for me? It's pretty much a stock XLT, except for a Class 3 receiver hitch and wiring I had...

I still have my '02! It runs great and has only had one part replaced: a squeeky tie-rod. What brand performance exhaust drove ya nuts?

Here's a photo of my 2005 Escape XLT Sport. It has factory flares on the rim of the wheel wells, and should give you some idea of what to look for. The mud flaps are Husky and I've been very happy with them.

Paint is an insulator not a conductor. grind the paint off around the hole or stud that you currently have used. Then, measure the voltage at the end of your power wire vs. your ground wire with a meter. That voltage should be very close to the voltage you see at the battery itself. The best ground on the vehicle in my opinion is the rear backseat brackets, with the bracket ...
