OMG - My trade in Value FELL a lot

dstoffa, Good point - my Escape will be paid off in two years - tempted to have traded it in during the summer (high gas prices) but drove it less and combined my trips and it worked out fine. If something happens to break on the Escape costing $500 bucks - fix it and keep driving it - by all costs it may only be 1 payment on a new ride - why be paying 500 each month for 60 months? The Escape if regularly maintained (oil changes, tranny...

What is the weight of a 302 (5.0L) Ford EFI engine? 460lbs is what I found. The 1UZ-FE with the R-154 transmission is only 486 lbs! With the W58 trans, it is 20lbs less at 466lbs. IMO, The 5.0L can't compete with that. I always wanted to use a 1JZ, but the 1UZ-FE has major advantages in performance and weight over many. Granted, the 1JZ is a no-go in a car like this, because it weighs in at over 600lbs with transmission....actually I...

Why I Love COSTCO (rebaters, take notice) Many times here I have sung the praise of COSTCO (on my 3rd projection TV in 10 years for one initial purchase. Although, I no longer endorse their floormats - they used to be heavy, solid rubber - now they look sheetmolded like everyone else. But I digress . . . . ). In any case, what other company would do this the day after their rebate ...

The Hybrid version of the Escape has done reasonably well with regard to re-sale value (though recent drops in pump prices may adjust that). I'm aware of one recent sale of a used 2005 Escape Hybrid similarly configured to mine, with 81,500 km (50,000+ miles) on the odometer (again, the same as mine). It brought in $23,000 (Canadian) for a vehicle that listed for $35,000 Cdn....

Oxygen Sensor & Throttle Body Hi there I have a 2002 Escape with 112854 km on my question is , if I was to take O2 Sensors out is there a solution which I could use to clean them with. Just wanted to do this to see if my fuel mileage improved and if it did I would replace them with new ones which being from Canada I would expect them not to be cheap and the same goes with my throttle...

the REVENGE of the Electric Car Hes back. The now iconic flick Who Killed the Electric Car? is being sequeled. Director Chris Paine is planning a sequel titled Revenge of the Electric Car scheduled to hit theatres in 2009. According to Paine the movie will chronicle the work major automakers are doing to get a second generation of electric cars on the road. At the end of the first ...

I would definitely go with the '05 headlight upgrade before buying better lights for your stock headlights. That mod alone gives you much better light output. If you're looking to spend another $50, go for the inexpensive HIDs I mentioned in the other thread. The combo won't even compare to your stock setup you have now.

Are Ford/Mercury Dealers Dealing On New Escapes & Mariners? We've been considering trading in my wife's 05 Mariner for an 09 Mariner. With the state of the economy and the American Auto Industry is this a good time to buy? I thought maybe the dealers would be cutting some good deals to get rid of inventory. Or will they possibly offer employee pricing or some other strong ...

mpg I took a trip to Atlantic City in my 2009 Escape Limited (1500 miles on odometer) and got 34mpg/highway. To make matters even better, I got gas in NJ for $1.83.9. As for the gas mieage, I was going between 55 and 60 miles/hr.

Hit 100,000 Tonight I hit 100,000 miles, I feel luckly I made it to 100,000 earlier this week a taurus tested my brakes by doing a 50-0mph as quick as they could in the middle of a road when I was right behind them. Tonight when my mileage is 99,998 I almost demolished a deer as I was going down a hill at about 50mph. Ironically my brother hit a huge deer friday night totaling his car, ...
