You'll have to declare the value as you perceive it and hope that the Alfandega agree with you otherwise they will apply their own values for tax purposes. It's not possible (within the law ) for a person with your
immigration status to import those goods tax-free so you will be taxed. How much tax and how long it will take to clear customs and at what...

Your kids are young enough that they won't be hugely
impacted. They won't need good schools for a couple of years at least, which will give you time to decide what you want to do and potentially move back. You'll also be in a better situation to understand what type of school you want to send them to. Probably something private, but you'll have years to decide that. I'm ...

PAL-M in your menu, then it should work. Otherwise, if it's HD you can get a SKY and NET HD these days, even though you'll be paying more.

Confianca advertises that they ship (cardboard boxes of various sizes, not just containers) both ways (EUA to Br & vice-versa),
door to door, for pretty reasonable prices (by volume, not by weight, good for heavy books). Edited by Bahiana77 - 23 November 2009 at 18:16

You need to call some of the
moving companies and see about moving a piano. Those damn things are VERY heavy, and it won't be cheap.

Brazil is a closed market. Very few jobs for foreigners. Try your luck in a
developed country. Save as much as you can, then consider coming to Brazil as a business owner. Also study Portuguese as a hobby. Or develop a Web based consulting firm that might allow you to live anywhere. Brazil six months, the Argentina or Uruguay for six months. Good Luck
