Quote from Doggydog: "I don't have any pearls to add but I've noticed I have to "train" people in my life that interact with my dogs" Sounds like a "pearl" to me. Nice post. There are lots of great posts.

He looks great, much more filled out than J!J's about 8 mos and a little over 64lbs I'd say. Haven't measured him as it's impossible without someone distracting him from mauling the tape measure... But getting weight on him is like trying to keep water in your hands. HE is on the move 99% of the time and is always hungry. He IS a bit underweight, his hips are more pronounced than I'd like and you can feel his hip bones...

Wow...you have obviously read "How to make Friends and Influence People" Jenn was trying to offer you valuable advice from her years as a rescuer. It's a shame that you chose to take offense rather than read what she wrote. Good luck with your search.

I think you should be careful about personal attacks. Of the many people on this site, Sun Carina is one I expect is really trying to help you make a good decision. I think you are taking people's good intentions all wrong.

Lila - her current size is not uncommon or alarming. she sounds like a pretty solid girl. and as mentioned in this thread - the height standard is stricter than the weight standard and the weight/build will vary quite a bit between the different bloodlines. only guessing, i think you're girl will be towards the top of the chart for a female (maybe over)... i definitely don't think you have to worry about her being "small"....

If that doesn't work, I just thought of another idea... You can fill a Kong or other treat/puzzle toy (my favorite is the Busy Buddy Twist n Treat) before you go to bed and keep it in a container or drawer overnight. When she starts to act that way in the morning you can give her the treat toy to keep her busy. (With Bianca if I want to keep her busy for a while I just give her a raw knuckle bone ) If she is good at problem-solving you...

A big majority of Pet owners aren't going to have OFA's done on their dogs. I would also get a bill of Sale. Make them write up something that states, you are purchasing X named dog with Registration number XXXXX for the sum of $___________. Also make sure if the dog is AKC registered that you get the papers with the owners signing the transfer section. Since I mostly train my own dogs, in a ...

Thanks Chicagocanine... Great links and they reenforce what I believe about the goinjg slow and the "leave it" command. Lila is pretty good with "NO" but far from perfect. Vigilance is called for in this situation. Fortunately, she's young at 5 months and very willing to please me (most of the time).

If you can find a simple stamp of a GSD or even a GSD head, you could paint the room tan and then stamp the GSD in black around the top of the walls or as a border in the center. I did my son's room (tan with green stamped oak leaves) and it looked fantastic. If you have a ShopKo they have some cute black and tan rugs and accent pillows in there. ETA: my bedspread is a nice GSD tan (from Bed ...

Some people with tiny dogs like Chi's opt to use the pads for life or a litterbox like a cat. Yes, they make doggy litter too. Not sure that is the route I would take but again I don't intend to get a dog that will always be that small. Nothing against them, just not my preference.

Your flexible crate isn't a good idea. I'd go for doggy seat belts. I am a Rough Rider Roadie (old style) fan myself. I have a regular cab 1/2 ton ford. No air bags. I built a platform for the passenger side. cover it with a mat and can seatbelt two GSDs in the front and still have room for the driver. Seat belts and harnesses give you a lot of flexibility.

While Pit Bulls were bred to fight - they were bred to fight other dogs. They were also bred to be exceptionally good with people, even during a fight their handlers needed to be able to get in their safely. Aggression towards dogs and aggression towards people are totally different behaviors. So, by the "what they were bred for argument" it makes sense to keep your dog away from them but not ...

I didnt go over there, maybe I should have, but it would only have been to start trouble since I couldnt have trusted myself to be civil. She's just busy and having fun! We haven't had enough snow to play in yet. Banshee used to spend all her time diving in the bottom of a snow drift and coming out the other side. The novelty wears off and then you have to coax them off the porch to go.
