I know you can change your own name on a Paypal due to marriage, not sure about changing it to deceased person's spouse. You could ring Paypal and ask them: 08707 307 191 - 7 days a week, until 10pm. If you just let it ring without selecting a number you should get a real person to talk to. Apparently if you shout "Agent" it helps! If it's not possible and you have to open a new account you would need to use a different...

seller shirking responsibility?
Published (2009-11-21 12:20:00)
Oh, have no fear, I trust the word of all of you but in the event that this seller throws a tantrum (which, if their feedback is anything to go by, they may) and claims they aren't liable I'd like to be able to direct them to a link stating otherwise and suggest that they educate themselves. Again, I'm very grateful for all the advice

To underline my point, on the information available to me so far, in my opinion the buyer is not at fault in any way whatsoever.

PayPal quickest way to pay?
Published (2009-11-20 21:17:00)
The quickest way to pay is to go into a branch of the seller's bank and deposit cash in his account. af blah blah blah. this guy doesn't take paypal, just ignore him!

Acornia - The following links tell you how to file for INR. That's where it's written down per se. But most of the advice you have been given is from regular contributors to the discussion boards, who may have been through the process themselves, and have experience of helping similar folks to yourself with claims. We have heard all the "scams" and "excuses" from sellers before....

So as I say any advice please? In future avoid gettin "help" from Ebay perhaps? Go straight to legal action against the seller, or only claim through Paypal. I have recently made a claim (wrong item sent) through Ebay's procedures and quite frankly it seems clunky and brusque. I wished I had just phoned the seller instead because there are no problems and it would have been friendlier.

I was quite surprised to see lots of 99p starts listed yesterday - but still trying to hide to P&P cost! I would have though yesterday was an ideal time for private sellers to experiment with listing properly to see if it can work for them.

It's quite understandable that some buyers are now worried that some sellers being forced to offer free P&P will vent their displeasure on them, rather than on Ebay. Some have openly stated they will send stuff in the cheapest possible packing, sometimes without paying for postage - As if that in some way will reflect on ebay. Perhaps this buyer has already suffered from such practice and wants...

Did you pay via eBay or Paypal? If Paypal it might not have updated on eBay properly. Either way you can mark as paid via the little arrow on far right of transaction on your won list. If the seller sells lots of stuff he may not have noticed your payment but is just going by the info in his My eBay.

You will have to open a dispute against them for non delivery. If the payment was by Paypal go thorough their resolution process. If not go through eBay's. They have to claim against Royal Mail.

'today I got a bill from FedEx for £16 as appently they come from China.' Was this bill for import duty, VAT and a handling charge. If so you will be required to pay this bill before you receive the item, if you do not require the item, I have been told that you should decline and not pay the bill. I'm sure some one else will confirm this. You may report the item to eBay for false item ...

i had a simerler problem a few days ago, but my advice to you is dont pay any money at all. if you ring paypal and ask them to look at ur case (and explain) they will do it there and then for you, if you loose the dispute then not much you can do. but when i rang paypal and explained, i won my dispute.. my buyer was saying the item was broke, (but i won the dispute on the fact he picked the item ...

Ask the buyer to ring their local sorting office in case it's there. He can get the number from Royal Mail Customer Services on 08457 740 740. Or you can do it for him. Postmen don't always leave cards about non-delivery. If no luck Royal Mail wait 15 working days before they consider a parcel as lost. If possible ask the buyer to wait somewhere near that to see if it turns up. If it ...

If your receipt clearly shows the address in Poland and Airsure, I would ask the Post Office for a refund. If she wrote on Portugal, and that is all that shows, it won't be so easy - but it may be worth taking parcel and receipt back into the same PO, preferably with the same clerk, and saying 'Remember me??'!

You're right, it's a scam! Don't worry, they don't leave neg feedback but if they did ebay would remove it. Here's how to report them to end the transaction quickly: http://members.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewUse rPage&userid=**peaseblossom**
