Scratching on the RMX

If you want to scratch I highly reccomend using the RMX. I have one and I can safely say its not for scratching. (in fact, controllers probably shouldn't be scratched on at all)

beatmatching woes
Published (2010-01-03 21:54:00)
well i just had a little mix and really enjoyed it. id left it alone for a few days because i was becoming so annoyed with msekf, ( actually through a records out my window lol) I sort of identified that there are areas what i need to improve onm the most blatant is that during a long transition i often loose which song im adjusting in the mix. The other is when adjusting to listen rather than just adjust because i know its too fast or too...

Phrase matching, running cuts,...

Ok ok. I will try some of these. Thx for all the responses guys. So in general you guys let tracks run all the way through the first breakdown before mixing in? I am asking because I am used to mixing hip hop, where everything is really fast paced, you generally only let a song play a couple verses, etc. With this type of music, I get beatmatched super quick because the bpms are so consistent, cue up to the phrase I want, and then I feel like...

Well depending on what the dance floor's doing, you just drop slightly faster or slower BPM tracks to go with the energy level.
A common method of going about it is to start off with a slower BPM, and slowly build up, then at the peak drop a really nice beat, and get the crowd really pumped. At this point, depending on the crowd, you can bring it back down, or just keep it up there for a while...

Yeah. What I'd usually do is get the tracks matched in the headphones using a part of the incoming track that has a beat on it and if you've got it bang on (and assuming the BPM of the track is consistent throughout), you can mix ...

I say, go for both. When you use Traktor or Serato just make a CD. So if
your at a gig and ur lappy crashes you just take out the traktor/serato
disks and place in the hard copy and boom the partys back up and going

I personally use the crossfader for cuts and the upfaders for blends.
and for scratching I still use the crossfader.

From any given keycode you may mix harmonically into the three adjacent keycodes. None of the three adjacent keycodes provide much better harmony than the other adjacent keycodes, but the BEST harmonic mixes would be into another song in the same keycode.

Hey all!
Been improving steadily since I started doing this almost a year ago (check out my newest mini-mix in the Submissions section !), but I seem to have run into a snag that worries me.
Specifically, it's about EQ's, and how to maximize their use in the mix.
As a general rule, I cut the base of outgoing track as I bring in the new one (or sometimes vice-versa) -- removing it as ...

well it depends on what you're using.
if you have a DVS, you can just match up the wavelength or loop one part until the songs are matched.
