CM8.3 api calls for an 8.4...
Published (2009-12-10 11:51:00)
We use the CM8.3 api calls currently in our product to work with a CM 8.3 server. We are wondering will our product still be able do the basics such as login if we were to hit against CM 8.4 server? We don't currently have a cm 8.4 server to test against and just wanted to get a feel for how much code changing is involved if we decide to support 8.4. I am thinking that if there were major changes and new dll's were added or old...

The driver you reference is extremely old and no longer supported. You should upgrade to the newest available version of iSeries Access for Windows, which is V6R1M0. See the following info apar documents for details of support Windows operating systems: Windows Server 2008: http://www-912.ibm.com/n_dir/nas4apar.nsf/c79815e0 83182fec862564c00079d117/ea0a1f0bd40023f2862574320 03c70f6?...

This function was tested on DB2 for LUW. If input value('YYYYMMDD') is valid date, it returns input value, otherwise it returns NULL. code CREATE FUNCTION VALIDATE_DATE(inStr CHAR(8)) RETURNS CHAR(8) CONTAINS SQL DETERMINISTIC NO EXTERNAL ACTION RETURN CASE WHEN SUBSTR(inStr,1,4) BETWEEN '0001' AND '9999' AND SUBSTR(inStr,5,2) BETWEEN '01' AND '12' THEN CASE ...

Unfortunately, there is no correlation between the different DB2 flavors. They tend to "leap-frog" each other in terms of specific features, some features in one can take YEARS before they're implented in another. The only way to determine the specific features in any of the products is to read the manuals. Dave

This might be happening if you go down the 'record level access' path. With 'record level access,' records are locked as they are read. Try using IBMDASQL instead of IBMDA400 (IBMDASQL is generally recommended over IBMDA400 when using SQL Server).
