Published (2009-11-09 16:49:00)
hello Alex, today i've tryed it all. Put PCI card in, put another one in made all permutations yet the error still remained. I gave up. I din't even do the log reports. me and other 3 engineers researched the error and came to a conclusion that SCSI controler isn't responding or it is broken. So i've made changes. Since the server doesen't have regular +12 and +5V for IDE disks i cut the power supply from SCSI...

Thanks for helping. We are installing Citrix XenServer 5.5 on x3650M2 which is not supported OS, but we would really need to find a way out. We are successfully installed the MSM now, but we are not able to run MSM configuration GUI. Do you know if we can use the MSM configuration from Windows platform and use it on Linux platform? Is the configuration file compatible on both Windows and Linux? Thanks a lot. Po-Shan.

Okay I can see on the Server Proven link you provided that there is no support for IDE type HDDs and I'm guessing that doing away with it would probably eliminate most, if not all of my post errors but would there be any harm in keeping it? Because I don't see very many options. Only like 18 GB SCSI

Dear thecompnerd,
lets check your server configuration. Post DSA log. Also "ServeRAID Printable Configuration and Event Logs" would be helpful.

One last shot in the dark: Could this have something in common with 1-rank/2-rank (*single*-sided/*double*-sided) modules? Does the motherboard support only 4 double-sided modules or 8 single-sided modules?
If so, it would explain why only 4 Infineon modules can be installed. However, those weird memory errors and the ever-flashing exclamation mark LED remain a mystery.
Could ...

DP = Dual Processor = "2-socket" systems like the x336
MP = Multi Processor = "4 socket" systems (like the x445 in the era of the x336)
So you want the SL8MA. You should be able to use 2 processors. You say you did put in a second VRM. Sounds like you might have a hardware problem, I am sorry to say.

look slike anything wrong with your disk subsystem.
Try the next:
remove HDD (BTW, what is FRU p/n of this HDD?);
set BIOS settings to default state;
try boot. Do you see error light again? If yes, lets check DSA log.
if booting good, then power of, install HDD and try boot again. If problem comes back, check SCSI cable and connectivity. Try this HDD in ...
