Okay, that's good. So if the engine itself dies but everything else is good, sounds like I can replace it with any year prior to my vehicle's build date. Cool.

Swap fuel pump without dropping...
Published (2009-11-28 20:56:00)
Mine came off when I did a complete swap months ago. This time they refused so that is why I just left them attached and replaced the pump on the hanger under the car. Not the most ideal but it was the only thing i was going to try. If you can get the wires loose enough to have some play you can try doing it like I did.

Battery light flicker -...
Published (2009-11-28 21:42:00)
Awesome, I didn't know you could change the brushes! Well, I'll keep that in mind for the next flaky p71 battery light problem I get. :-) Thank you. You make a paperclip into a U and insert the ends through holes in the case and brushes to keep the brushes contracted until you get it in place and then pull the pins (or clip).

well if u ask it to be re diagnosed u will pay probably an extra 60 bucks give or take. if you are going to have a shop do it you will pay about 10-15 for the thermostat maybe another 5 for the gasket and it should be less than a half hour of labor or if you had some hand tools with you could do it yourself. but instead of paying for the diagnostic i would just do the thermostat because of how ...

the pcm pinout is basically the same between the 1995 & 1996 model years. however: -mass air flow sensor calibrations are different between the 1995 & 1996 vehicles. swapping out a maf sensor is easy, so no big problem here. -the edis module on 1996+ crownvics is integrated into the pcm. on 1995 vehicles, it's a seperate module under the hood near the cruise control module. a little rewiring ...

I can't comment on the highway numbers, but my 2009 Grand Marquis has had 4 fill ups since I bought it, and they are 19.6, 19.4, 18.8, and 20.2 all in town driving. I burn Shell 89 octane, or off brand 91 octane. The car has 13K miles on it, so I assume it is broke in.

get something like a pry bar or a snow brush and put your ear to the end of
it and to different moving parts under your hood while it's doing it,
you'll find out forsure then.

Its a REAL bear of a job. What happens is the exhaust manifold studs break off. Occasionally they will break leaving the surface of the stud sticking out of the head (leaving something to grip onto), BUT most of the time they break flush or underneath the surface of the head. There may not be room to get a drill in there on a Crown Vic. My current project is a V10 F250 with 4 studs broken on ...

Is there enough room to get a pin punch down there to collapse the tube
away from the block a little? That may loosen it enough to grab the opened
up area with some needle nose vise grips. Put your coat hanger down there
as a safety catch so the remains don't fall into pan if it collapses too
easy!!!

If I am reading this correctly, you changed to a different kind of oil and started having consumption? Normal. It should go away in a change or two. You could try a new PCV, though.

Not only is that WAY too expensive it's also the wrong part for you. 2005 and up have the 31 spline count, You have a 28 count. Doing the work is kinda easy. The biggest hurdle you have to face is getting the new bearings pushed on the new carrier. ADTR.com has the New carrier, fluid, friction modifier and the rebuild kit you want. The rebuild kit will have new bearings you need for the ...
