wow you guys are amazing. thanks for all the ideas. It turns out my kids had the best idea..when they looked at it they though ferris wheel so Im may try to make it look like  a ferris wheel for my youngest sons room. Not sure on that yet but whatever I do Ill be sure to post a pic of the results.

if you have alot of them you could connect them and make a hanging ...picture frames..decorative hanging...hang stuff inside of them like dangles...almost anything you can decorate them with..paint..paper. ..put a flat side and flip over and stuff with ?? cover with scap frabric and make a pin cushion. hope this helps.

How big are the rolls?  I thought Scotch tape was on plastic rolls.  Unless you are talking about packing tape.

Oh my gosh, you could cover it with so many different things! Egg shell mosaic (just google it), magazine scraps, old pages of a worn out book, let your mind go wild! Then, seal it all with a couple of coats of our old friend decoupage. Also, don't forget ceramic tile or stained glass mosaic and grout - both are durable option.s

could it be a "clip it up" system to hang scrapbooking supplies from? Make a chandelier? hand old bottles from it in the yard...ok start over..attack wooden pole, hang old glass bottles from it then you have a very unique bottle tree! browse through the forum on papercrafts, especially the recycled projects. Also, the jewelry making crowd sometime has great projects using pics or parts of pages. You could still make book purses if you made a (book)cover for them---very retro!: think about middle school--reading the latest "naughty" book with a paper cover you crafted yourself!!! dog toys? i used to have a roommate with a dog who loved socks. any kind. every time i'd do my laundry and then find a sock w/ a hole in it, i'd donate it to rocky who was happy to take it off my hands i'm sure he didn't even appreciate the fact that i washed it first. i kind of miss having him around to donate my holey socks to.....

I like your idea of making new paper, maybe you could embroider a quote that is special to you on it. origami would be a simple answer - maybe something like a frog or a balloon a purse - paint it or cover it and add some handles tear it up and use it to papermache something small sounds like a fun challenge
