I'm just wondering would it be possible for a baptised Catholic to use a Church of Ireland church for their wedding sermon? All the really cool, ancient/pre-Reformation churches around here are now in the possession of the Anglican church and I'm wondering would it be acceptable for us to have our Catholic sermon in these really historically cool churches?

It's your wedding so if you think 5 bm's are fine then go ahead but personally I'd feel very claustrophobic...

Definately circular: at least you have some hope of being able to talk to everyone. If uts rectangle you are definately shouting to talk to the persona t the other end of the table

Our recent reception was held in a Dublin restaurant with rectangular tables fairly closely set together. There was about 10-12 folk per table and around 100 overall. What we noticed was the stark difference in athmosphere between this set up and the reception we'd been at a few weeks before - where circular tables were used with about the same number of people at them. There was a constant buzz of conversation at our reception and a...

Engagement Ring - FACTS, not...
Published (2009-12-30 01:02:00)
Hello there. I don't know of any jewellers off hand who offer this, though it seems to be quite common online probably only as a sweetener for online purchasing. Your best bet is to ring a few jewellers you're interested in and ask. Look out for your local independent jewellers' terms and conditions. The chances are that a remote prospective buyer will be told of less options than someone in the shop with chosen ring and a...

I think a lot depends on the size of the tables and the amount of people at them. I've been at weddings with average sized circular tables, usually about 10 or 12 at a table, and there's been great craic and atmosphere. Was also at a wedding where there was 10/12 people at a circular table, but they were massive, so you could only really talk to the people next to you, if you were trying to chat ...

DreamingOfABoat, I found when looking at this that there were 3 main costs for the reception: food; wine; evening snacks.
The house wine for our wedding was expensive so we went with buying it ourselves & then paying for Corkerage. We got advice from a friend on what would be a good wine.
Re. negotiating - that really is a personal thing. Since you have 3 hotels it is up to you whether you ...

not sure of your reasons for asking this, but if it is in the hope that it will be cheaper to get a dummy cake iced than a real one, from experience I found this not to be the case - the icing is the expensive bit, the cake is fairly cheap. We were offered the cake as a present but when we enquired about getting it iced it would have only saved us about 50. You don't really pay for the cake, ...

AFAIK, Christmas and New Years are more expensive times to get married. If you're having a new years wedding, do it on New Year's Eve, not New Year's Day. Was at a new years day wedding last year and it was a bit of a disaster. Lot of people were kinda annoyed that couldn't go out on NYE cos they had the wedding next day, and then those who did go out were totally hanging during the day. One guy ...

Just wondering if anybody has ever had any dealings with Delfi antique jewellers in powers court in dublin.
Have been looking around at engagement rings and came across a fab ring in this place. Hadnt thought about getting an antique ring I'm a little confused. The gentleman we dealt with was great - very honest about what suits and what doesnt, could tell me all about the ring and ...

Tinakilly House in Wicklow cater for small weddings - from 2 to 90. With the M50 linking to N11 its not far (30 mins) from South County Dublin. Try some of the golf clubs -they often have seperate rooms to cater for smaller functions.

I think you're getting a bit mixed up. Your presence is our present means you don't expect any gifts, i.e their present to you is being there.
If you google it there are loads of verses you could include. Personally I think it's fairly cheeky and if I got an invite asking me to pay for my meal I'd probably be inclined to either not go or else buy a really naff gift. Most people will give ...
