Working one day a week on JSB
Published (2009-11-25 14:04:00)
I've been lucky to get one day's work a week for the forseeable future in something related to what I studied in. The pay is a basic rate but will probably net me 60-70€. I am already receiving €132/week on JSB (as I live at home). Am I right in assuming the 60-70€ will be deducted from the 132 or is there another manner in which they calculate it? I'm just happy to have some sort of work even if it...

mechofrank, I believe in this case the onus is on you to provide a link to an Irish state website saying that the WPP is applicable to jobs outside of Ireland. If you can not do so, please stop arguing with posters. Personally I feel it is unlikely that the State would pay someone to work in a company outside of Ireland - why should they give another country free labour? This program isn't only intended to benefit jobseekers but also...

FAS website 'FÁS will conduct a monitoring visit within two months of the commencement of the work placement, where both the Provider and Participant have the opportunity to discuss any issues that may arise during the placement. A subsequent monitoring visit may also be conducted either on a random sample basis or if considered necessary.' I don't reckon that monitoriing visit will be outside Ireland, do you!!

I'll get you started with the little I know, and those more knowledgeable can row in to confirm / correct.
I think the first question that will be relevant is whether you were gainfully employed before you started depending on poker for your sole source of income? What type of job did you do and whether it was full - time / part - time, and how long you held it for. If you worked full - time...

I may be completely wrong on this, but I think your income in england would be taken into account for any benefit claim as you have not abandoned them.

Did you inform them you were going abroad to look for work before you left? They let you do that, you just have to let them know beforehand.
As for the rest of your post, please tone down the vitriol towards the office and its clients... we don't allow that kind of attitude here.

Nothing more than glorified slave labour imo, you'd want to be completely and utterly desperate to even consider going for something like that.
Although it must be said, it's the first time I've ever seen a BSC required as a pre-requisite to picking cotton.

Fire them and get staff who actually want the extra hours and are committed to you!
Yes, go ahead and call the local office.
Fraud may be handled by a central section so the local office will give you the correct contacts if they can't handle it.

There's a section on the form where you can fill in why you are late claiming. It should still be accepted and backdated.
You don't even have to go into the office with the form - you can post it in.
Can take 2-5 weeks to come throough (I know someone who waited 5, and another person who heard in 2 weeks).

I applied March 30th for jobseekers benefit. I was told 4 to 5 weeks.
Now today I was told it would be around another 3 weeks. Im not even means tested.
THe woman in the SW office also said they were understaffed. Of course they are. So it looks like around 7 weeks before I get anything. This is in Kilbarrack, Dublin.
