He'll likely be cut to around 90 euro per week. There is an excel spreadsheet in the FAQ thread that can help give you an idea.

Sorry to hear that Shelli. I know the one thing you probably want to do is complain the guy and I would do so in the normal run of things. However like it or not this individual holds the keys to the kingdom in terms of decision making. I would wait a week for forms etc to be processed then call into the SWO and ask for an update on the application. If it does get turned down then I would complain him. Feel better!

Just to clarify, the backpay is for the period of time between going to the social welfare office and getting supplementary allowance approved (just over 2 months). Once the supplimentary kicks in, then unfortunately you don't get double!

Thanks devilhomer, I havent had the housing assessment, I was told it could take up to 5 months to wait for a housing assessment! I went down to CWO with the appplication and ive been in current accommodation for 5 months and was told unless I can get a lease from a previous landlord to say I was renting elsewhere for the month previous I cannot get it. Thing is there was never a lease in place in the old place. So my old landlord wont...

It is possible to transfer your Irish benefit to another EU country if you are seeking work in that country. It is limited to a certain period but it would be worth your sister investigating. Her suggestion that your wife collect her benefit could have landed you wife in jail.

You can stay on Jobseekers allowance for as long as you are, able to work, actively seeking employment and continue to satisfy the means test.
You can be called in for a review at anytime, you'd have to have pretty good documentary evidence that you are trying to find a job (applications, rejection letters etc.)

Hi Kotek Besar
if an applicant does not meet the habitual residence condition for Jobseeker's Allowance then they probably also do not meet the habitual residence condition for Supplementary Welfare Allowance (SWA).
It is unlikely the SWA would continue to be paid in this situation.
The applicant could appeal the decision if they felt there were grounds. More information on this ...

What it basically means is that for each day the partner works, 20 euro is deducted but the maximum deducted in one week is 60.
So if they work 1 days, 20 is deducted
2 days, 40
3 days, 60
4 days, 60
5 days, 60
6 days, 60
so (I think) calculation would be
Personal rate ( claimant) 204.30 (maximum rate)
Qualified adult 135.60 (maximum rate)
(420 per week - 60 max) * 60% ...

Unfortunately for the taxpayer, yes you can work part-time and continue to receive your 204 euro BTEA a week, plus your rent paid if applicable.
However, I wouldn't be surprised if things change drastically in the budget next month.

I applied March 30th for jobseekers benefit. I was told 4 to 5 weeks.
Now today I was told it would be around another 3 weeks. Im not even means tested.
THe woman in the SW office also said they were understaffed. Of course they are. So it looks like around 7 weeks before I get anything. This is in Kilbarrack, Dublin.

No that's not gonna happen i'm afraid. Its 2 years ago! Most social welfare claims can only be backdated 6 months and even then it's at discretion of deciding officer. Not knowing of your entitlement is not reason for not claiming either

They should send you a letter in the post a few weeks before your credits exhausts and then you should apply for JSA straight away.

Hi
if a person is waiting on their jobseekers allowance and they get payments of the CWO, is this taken from what they'll get off the social welfare or is it "extra"??!!

If your doing a PLC course & working you are not available to work so you wont be entitled to Jobseekers allowence.
I suggest you go into the social welfare office or ring citizen advice and see if you are entitled to anything, but i would not suggest lying to them about doing your PLC course as that is fraud.
