Hello all , Just be interested, 'cause I've seen it referred to on other threads , have many of you bought in the North ? Is there big savings to be made by buying from a reputable bike shop over the border ( taking into account fuel prices ) and are they good to deal with compared to your local bike shop down here ? Would like to support my local bike shop but sometimes find it ...

Stefan Schimacher the man with possibly the biggest 'tete' in the peleton has tested positive for EPO, see below http://velonews.com/article/84039/schumacher-tests -positive-for-epo Is it too big of a conspiracy theory to think that the results of these tests are just being released now, months after the tour has ended. Just think what would have happened if all these positive test ...

Hi, So first, if this is in the wrong place please move.... Reading loads of these complaints about the new bikes for rent from Dublin City Council. But nothing seems to indicate when the bikes are becoming available, how much they'll be etc ? Anybody have any idea ? Thanks

Hi guys, Am looking at a commuter bike (8miles each way) and the odd 100k cycle. I saw the FCR range on saturday which looks great. The low end FCR 4 was retailing for €500 then €600 for the FCR 3. I currently have an old hybrid which is not bad but the difference between that and the FCR is unbelieveable. my question is is there a huge difference from the FCR 4 to 3 and so on up the range, ...

Alright guys, This is my first post in the cycling section so hello all. I'm just wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of a bike shop that will fit a couple of tyres and tubes on my bike and also give it a once over i.e service brakes have a look at the gears. I am a novice Dublin City commuter cyclist. Approx 8-10k per day. I also need to get myself a small pump and...

Sounds like they are having a blast. Here's a link to their pics from Day 1 A pic from Day 2 is attached. Day 1 (emty's account of the day after Alpe d'huez) Quote: Great day, climbed Alp D'heux, 1860m, went on up to just over 2000m twice in a snowstorm. Stayed over 1800m for 25km. Amazing scenery, stunning, never seen anything like it....

What are peoples' opinions about the increasing sight of commuter cyclists wearing dirt bike helmets? Please don't reply if you're post is of the ideologically-opposed-to-helmets variety

Hi, Currently commuting three times a week with a 28K round trip and thinking of upgrading the bike from a Giant Yukon with road tyres to a Giant FCR 1 or 2. The FCR models seem to get consistently good reviews from the commuters on boards and the reduction in weight should cut a bit of time; however, has anyone had any experience with adding panniers and mudguards to either model as I...

Right, I've survived the 'summer' without too many soakings and I'm all set to keep training* through the winter. I've even started going out on club runs! Despite getting my road bike this time last year, the only cycling I was doing until spring was commuting and I generally got away with shorts and a couple of 'breathable' layers under a supposedly waterproof cycling jacket (which isn't ...

Hi All, Given the nice weather lately I am thinking of investing in a new bike. Main purpose: To get/stay fit while working out the legs (I used to do a fair bit of long distance running). Budget: €400-€700 Might decide to cycle to work sometimes (from suburbs thru city and out towards the other side of the city!). I have an old Trek Mountain bike I bought while living in ...

Just a quick rant I'm afraid as both a driver and a cyclist. I very nearly hit a cyclist near milltown last night....at speed, could have killed him. No lights, wearing all black on a black bike, I thought he might have been on some sort of covert mission!!!! I swerved at the very last second, and when stopped at the lights, I told him I'd just saved his life....and guess what....told me to f**k...

Anyone have any info on a sat nav specifically for a bike? It would (very obviously) need to be waterproof and have a long battery life - up to 12 hrs on a single charge.

Hi lads, Decided to see what all this fixie business is about and what people are getting so excited for. I'm a broke 3rd level student, have two decent bikes, one for off road and one racing bike so don't have money or need to spend lots on a 3rd bike. The plan is to strip an old raleigh that i'm getting extremely cheap, fit an old BMX freewheel that gave up years ago and weld ...

1. The fella at the roundabout who clearly eyeballs you , knowing you have right of way but says " f*** 'em ,and proceeds to pull out in front of you . 2. The mammy on the mobile at a T junction , clearly late to collect the kids from the minder ( on the phone to hubby to ask him if he could get a bottle o' wine in Londis on the way home) , totally oblivious to her environs. 3 .
