Swine Flu Vaccination + general...
Published (2009-12-14 19:06:00)
Mod Note Guys and Gals We cannot and will not be advising any poster on their specific cases regarding the flu or the flu vaccine. There is info posted on the HSE website, but if you have any doubts or questions then you need to contact either your GP, the clinic where you received the vaccine or directly to the HSE on the phone numbers listed on their site. This thread is not for medical discussions of a personal nature. There is nowhere on...

Good samaritan legislation

I hold MPS insurance which covers me in the unlikely event someone sues me for doing such a good deed. All doctors who are signed up for medical indemnity are all automatically covered for good samaritan acts. Someone has to be a very begrudging individual if they sue you though for doing an emergency act to save limb or life.

I've read and understood as much as possible can (for a layman) about the flu, the two vaccines avail in Ireland and additionally just back from few weeks in Australia and got insight into their attitudes to it too. While swine flu is evident there and they do have a vaccine for it - not either of the ones avail here. They are using Panvax. There is no great general talk about swine flu in the news, papers or discussions. The family I was...

What's this business with northside/southside? Is it not Dublin city centre? As I said in another thread that either 22nd or 23rd is fine with me.

Apologies just in case we've digressed with my contributions I'll get back to salary. In Ireland for an industry post I'd probably be aiming for E35,000-E40,000. In UK, or more specifically south-East England I'd be prepared to settle for the equivalent of a good bit less. I think it would be worth it for the quality of life and I would be able to network much more effectively with the infrastructure thats in place there.

Crutches

well i rang the galway clinic and the lady at recepetion, while not certain, was pretty sure that i was going to be charged for them and i was to keep them.so i was put through to the A&E dept and they said that i was to keep them and there is no charge!!.. so that solves that..maybe its different for public hospitals, and you are charged there.. it is such a waste.. i used them for a day... if anyone ever needs crutches let me know

Medical Student Syndrome
Published (2009-12-07 14:39:00)
In my last 6 weeks of training (nursing), i got this terrible headache on a monday afternoon, took all the usual OTC stuff, by wednesday it still hadn't gone, by thursday it was getting worse. Long story short, i managed to panic myself into thinking I was having a sentinel headache i.e precursor to a Cerebral Aneurysm. Thankfully some A&E SHO gave me some tramadol and sent me home and it eventually resolved.

A load of Pish if you ask me. Won't bother getting one myself. If everone else has the vaccine, I'm not going to contract it from them.

not too sure, in a hospital you'd be looking at a starting salary from 40-50k i think. in a community pharmacy it's more but i think the days are gone when pharmacists start on at least 70k

Mandatory fortification is a bit nanny state. I wouldnt be entirely against it though, low level fortification of certain processed foods perhaps.
Not sure how it would mask b12 deficiency, as b12 is required for key folate reactions, both folate and b12 defiency have the same presentation.

Speaking as a patient who got a set once, I got to keep them. I asked A&E when they gave them to me and they said not to return them. I assume its all part of the fee. It wasn't the Galway Clinic though.

Hi there,
I did it in St James during my easter holidays in 6th year. James were very accomodating about it back then (2005). I've PM'ed you a name, unfortunately I don't have her phone number anymore. I wrote to her, so maybe you could do the same If you had time.
Good luck,
Dave
