Engine swap: E30's M40...

Agreed M40 is a pointless swap. Negligible reward for going through the effort and expense of an engine conversion.

Got the new cam and rocker fitted today. Took it to A.G.A. Engineering in Artarmon. The guy was pretty clued up on M20 engines. Was suggesting different cams and head - block combinations.. much like the suggestions on here.. and gave me lots of info on breaking the new cam in... wish I'd gone there first.

320/6 to 2.7 motronic wiring...
Published (2009-11-25 18:47:00)
Here's a comment for the initial poster. I highly suggest peeking at the ETM for the 2.7 motor. Using the 3 or 4 pages related to the engine loom, it will be very easy to trace which wires go to C101, and what they are for. From there, all you need to do is to connect them to the appopriate wires from your chassis. RUN position START position Alternator light in cluster Fuel pump Coolant temp gauge in cluster Oil pressure light in...

Are you sure it's not just the horn unit itself?? Why not just get another from any scrap car? They are all pretty standard issue.

Are you sure your turning the ignition off fully? As locks wear it becomes possible to remove the key when the switch is still on sometimes. If not, I would guess you have a fault within the switch or its wiring?

Kinda hard to be certain without actually seeing the radio but usually you can tune the radio, then pull out the preset button to ''store'', then push in again. Repeat the process for each button and ''voila'' preset radio stations!

I found this great link. Useful if you're planning an engine swap in your E21, as the car is relatively light and with a six up front the weight distribution is rubbish. You (or atleast I) don't want to slide in a heavier engine http://www.vrchlabi.cz/e30/ruzne/enginenumber/ I am btw loving that the M60 weighs about the same as the M30!

i may be wrong but the only way your gonna change the pedal travel etc is by ditching the servo assist and putting a universal pedal box in your car with twin MC's then changing the sizes will have different effects on the amount of force required by your foot.

A friend of mine has just bought a really early e21 and I'm trying to find out just how early it is? Does anyone have build details for UK cars or know of any other early UK cars please? Obviously will get a print out from main dealer but want to try and find details of specific cars. This is my pals early e21. Even has 2002 switches and stalks along with twin servo brakes also ...

Hi again... I'm thinking about the possibility of swapping my E21's M10 1.8cc engine for a refurbished M40 1.8cc engine from an E30, including the gearbox assembly. I've been told that would be a not very difficult task in terms of size, weight or matching points, but the electronics would be an issue, as well as the speedometer, rev meter, etc.... Any idea or opinionn about that???? ...
