OK Mike the mechanic has concluded that the bottom end has seized completely. Suspect the noise it started making when Jamie drove it away was the oil pump dying. The pressure gauge had shown a bit low at tickover, but good pressure under power. I assumed the gauge being ebay cheapness was wrong - oil light never came on. OK we live and learn. Conveniently there is a ready disassembled M10 out of the slug sat in the unit ready to have a new...

This was actually taken off of an early 80's Euro spec 320i. It's all-aluminum and could be polished-up pretty nicely. I don't see a MFG name on it, so please don't ask. If you'd like more pics, I can certainly provide them to you. Just lemme' know. I can get the brackets for my orginal wilwood set up duplicted, these take wilwood power light calipers and work with the stock disks. You need to lose the backing plates and grind of the mounting tab for the backing plates to fit them.
