Interesting - I would occasionally hear it on my 2004 530i. Would be very intermittent. Don't know what it was, and am getting ready to sell the 2004 (I have a 2010). Haven't heard the metallic rattle in a few months - it would come for a few days, then be gone for a few months. It also seemed around the center armrest.

Hey make sure that the button to switch from left mirror to right mirror is to the left. If it is to the right switch it back over to the left and give it a try. Happened to me when I first got the car I was totally lost. Eventually figured it out though.

Looks like a great deal. still has the warranty and they would be so embarrased if it failed again. Try for $20k saying that it is "damaged" by the carfax.

while I did not go thru this with a BMW, I did go thru a buy back with a Mercedes...they did a "'substitution of Colatteral" and basically kept the same lease and inserted a new vin number...i was able to negotiate a new vehicle that had more options on it and everything stayed the same...The good news was that i had already put about 8-9K of miles on my old vehicle and the new one had no miles...

Your blaming BMW because you don't know where your keys are? I don't get it. What ever happened to personal responsiblity. My car will start with the keys on the workbench in the garage but I have never driven off with it. My 335 with CA did the same as my 650.
Why would you put your keys on the roof? Chalk it up to "lesson learned" and move on.
Good luck with keeping tabs on the keys!

Well, services are free until 4 years/50K miles, right?
Dealers have rules to follow, especially when BMW pays for it. Without it, they won't get paid, just like warranty repairs.
If you don't like it, you can always pay for the service yourself, or get an Audi.

I got Sport Package, Premium Package and Rear Shades. I do quite nicely without anything else. I wouldn't mind having Nav (for voice commands), but not worth the money to me. Hud would have been a nice 'toy', but you also needed Nav, so again, not worth the money to me.
My 2 cents on the subject.

The moon roof and windows have a safety, like you describe with a garage door. I've heard that the sensors can malfunction and prevent closure, again like you describe, so my guess is that that's the problem.
Not sure if there is a short-term fix, so perhaps someone else can chime in, but I believe you'll need to take it back to the dealer for to get the safety sensor replaced.
