As a new member, all i can say is the amount of information on this site is mind boggling, any thing and everything you need to know is here. I am grateful it exists and just goes to show you how great a 31 Bertram is and how great its followers are. Capt. Pat thanks for all the help, i am glad the site was started. I truly feel bad for anyone working on any other boat, because if they have problems, they dont have a source like this to turn...

Tony - on my 72 FBC the tank tag says 230 gallons along with the test pressure, etc. I was always under the impression that the "usuable" was 222....but on a two day trip offshore I came in on diesel fumes and put 226 in the tank, and both engines and the genset were still running. I'm not sure that Bertram actually built the tanks, seems someone told me they farmed them out, like they did with a lot of parts to Glass...

Andy, Depending on the height of your boat?, if you could get under the bridge to the main gate of NAS in Bayou Grande and get on the west side of the bridge in Bayou Grande that would be a great spot to view the show. But in your case from the west side coming end and easy access in and out would be behind Ft. Mc Rae on the north side anchored to the east side and get up on the mound of sand and watch the show from there would be my second...

It is just really strange that mine said 220 gallons and it did also show the pressure test amount. The tag was not glassed in and after beign exposed to the weather after the repower it has worn off. Unfortunatelly when they launched her after the repower I was not there. They put about 200 gallons in her but actually did not top her all the way before the sea trial. They said they figured about 200 gallons seamed right. So I am not sure if...

Some bow flair might help keep the spray down. I would personally like a transom door.

Jeremy,
I dont have your answers, but i was just wondering the same thing, and if you look a couple manufactures of new engines have a 6.2l small block which i think puts out similar HP#s as a 454 like 320 or 330 I think a 454 is like 340. So what do the rest of yall think about that enging option??

With a little persistance I may be able to join you for the Summer Blue Angles Show.

It'll be 10 years in another 14 days... Still seems like yesterday that I put the word out on a few discussion groups that only were being posted on by maybe 6 or 7 guys. I can't recall exactly, but I seem to remember that Uncle Vic was the first person to post a reply to my "Welcome Aboard" message.
That group has grown from 6 or 7 to 780 registered members, 11 of ...

The water has been surprisingly high for the last 2 months at my camp (Dularge/Cocodrie area) .
Even with these weak fronts and a good NE wind, the water is staying high.
On the plus side we caught 75 Specks on Thursday even with the wind blowing 15+.
Picked everything up off the dock just in case Ida pushes some water our way.
Might go down to the camp in the morning to 2x...

Congradulations hbMoppie!!
I'm sure the survey will go well, its a Bertram after all.
22knots WOT, not a speed demon. But you should have a nice cruising speed, 18 knots or so I'd guess. Plenty fast unless you need to be someplace fast, AKA- fishing grounds.
IMHO, boat looks better with covers off.
Best of luck with her!!

Prior to Nov. 1972 there were no uniform numbers on boats. The B31 hull # will be glassed into the hull inside under the port v-berth or in the inside transom about on the centerline behind the fuel tank.
I beleive numbering started with 101 in 1961 and the hull # will have the length (31), model # (each of the 6 models had a number, 1, 2, 3, etc) and the hull number, so a number like ...
