I personally believe Hasan is likely an Islamic Extremist, mainly frustrated that American Muslim soldiers were being ordered to kill enemies that also happened to adhere to the Muslim faith. It's been reported that he brought this issue up and it greatly disturbed him. The issue wasn't addressed to his satisfaction so he took matters into his own hands. I agree with Hellyer that what Hasan did was abject treachery and murder....and that if found guilty he should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. But we do not know yet what his motivation was, or if it was political or religious.

Our unwillingness to accept casualties has actually been one of our weaknesses, oft espoused and exploited by terrorists. After Khobar Towers, we pulled out our troops, and OBL has often cited this as an example of cowardice.

That was ostensibly what they were designed to do here, too. After 20+ years of hearing left-wing spin in the "news", FOX was created.

The integrity of our judicial system. Money can buy your way out of being punished for a violent crime like murder (OJ), rape (Kennedy cousin), etc. But as we saw wth madof, it can't buy your way out of financial crimes.
