Hi, I am evaluating both Bacula and Amanda as a client-backup solution for our firm which has several dozen windows clients. Backup server is Ubuntu 8.04 LTS and after discarding the Ubuntu packaged version (2.5.2), because I could not get it to work with the Amanda Windows Cygwin client, I was able to setup Amanda 2.6.2 with Zmanda "new-style" Windows Client, successfully. We will include support for command similar to amrecover in Zmanda Windows Client in future release. BTW, Amanda Enterprise supports the windows client restores using Web based management console. If you are interested in a trial, please contact zsales@zmanda.com

I'm doing some disaster (recovery) planning. I need to know how big our incremental backups are. I tried a few commands but the only one that seems to show this data is amadmin .. export but that seems to indicate that for one disk, my incrementals are bigger than my fulls. They do compress down better than the fulls, but the raw size seems huge. (1) is there a better way to find out how big...

Why did you configure 10 slots if you are only wanting to use 6 per drive? Amanda will typically use the next tape it comes to that is either new and labeled or has aged out of the typecycle. This is a historical document, but I believe the basic algorithm still applies -- http://wiki.zmanda.com/index.php/Planner_Notes . I would think that with a typecycle of 6, most of your tapes ...

It's a bug. Use the correct arguments to amcheck and you will not hit that bug. What argument are you using?
