I am using Mac version 1291 and it does not have a spell check either. It will underline some misspelled words but will not suggest alternatives or automatically replace it with the correct spelling (so technically it has one but not in the traditional sense).

Enabling or disabling calendar features would be something your administrator would manage if you are talking about the desktop accessing a zimbra account..
If you are talking about a non-zimbra account, I believe the Desktop just shows the calendar if it supports it. I don't think this can be configured other then during initial ...

I installed it to d:\program files\zimbra which is the same as on other
