The puppies need to nurse as much as possible. Even if they are not getting milk, they are getting colostrum and that is so important to them at this time. The milk will come, just make sure everyone is getting a chance to nurse on the last two nipples. They will have the most milk. Put the smallest puppies on those nipples and let them nurse there for awhile. The bigger ones always find a way to knock them off so watch for that. You can tell...

small pups?

Those poor puppies. IMO that is way too small. mine ae normall that weight at about 10 days. Once they start to eat on their own, they might take off. It's also possible that they have worms and need to be wormed when they are 5 weeks. __________________ Ollie Chachi Hallie Harlie & Me CircleKRanchYorkies.com ]

What countries have you purchased Yorkies from? I know there are quarantine laws, but what countries have you purchased Yorkies from? My breeder (and hopefully one day she will be my mentor) is originally from Europe, and I know that she sometimes exchanges dogs with breeders in Czech. Where have you gotten Yorkies from? I love looking at breedersÂ’, from around the...

I would wait until atleast 8 weeks or older to tape ears. I have only done it once and I didn't do it until she was around 10 weeks old. Mine are 3 weeks today and some are starting to flop a little but I thought it was normal. I have pictures in the nursery I posted today. I did have a girl once that her ears were up from day one and never went down.
I really don't know so ...

Bleeding and breeding My girl is in the stage of bleeding. It has not changed to pinkish discharge yet. I was wondering what the best day to pick up the male would be. I have spoken to the owner of the male I will be using and she figures to wait a few days yet. How long do they bleed before they are ready to accept a male? This would be my first time breeding her so I am looking...

It is possible. Just keep an eye out for eclampsia and make sure that you are giving her plenty of calicum and good feed. I would make sure that she gets lots of meals to supply the demand.

Ellie has Eclampsia Well thank the lord above I heartburn last night. After 15 minutes of tossing and turning in the bed last night, I came down stairs for some milk, and I found Ellie in her box and she was as rigid as stone. I got her out of the box immediately, rushed her to the emergency vet. They said we got it just in time. They gave her IV with calcium, a shot for vomiting...

Taking Temps What do you guys think about this? Does it really work, or at least work well enough to bother with it. I've read in several post about it stressing the mother out, so in the end is it worth it?
If it is, should you start at day 57, or wait longer, I've read different opinions on this too.

we are in labor! This is debbie (joeysmom). I'm at Gina's. Bailey is contracting, panting and leaking fluid. No bubble. Been going on for about an hour. How long, usually, till we see bubble? We don't see anything other than fluid coming out of her vulva yet. She's pretty calm, except not wanting Gina to leave her side. We also can feel the bulge behind her vulva.

Need help with deciding to have c-section I am beside myself right now. I just took sassy to the vet, she is 67 days by the first breeding and 65 days by the second breeding. This morning she tried to throw up while taking her temp. and was shaking, that stoped. The vet did an oral exam and said she has not dialated yet. She had taken one side xray that showed 2 pups. One going ...

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. What are you feeding them? I use equal parts goats milk to equal parts water. You may want to increase the heat a little more. I usually keep mine around 90 degrees. Also, I have found that while feeding them, I heat a towel and keep them in that while they are eating. You don't want to feed a cold puppy. Are you burping them after you feed them? Do you ...

There is really know way of knowing for sure when she might have them. I have seen puppy watches drag on for many days. While it is more common for them to have the pups on days 61 thru 63, I have had some females deliver on days 59 and 60 over the years. Are the pups really active? How many times was she bred. It is not uncommon for them to rest a lot several days before the pups ...

blood and puss It's 19 days after Fiona's delivery. The four babies are doing great. I just noticed blood and puss. I think it might be aninfection. I am heading over to the vet as soon as I post this. Already called They can fit me in in an hour. Problem is my vet hasn't been very good with advice in the past. I need to know all the test I have to tell them to run. any test you ...
