Shut down AVG9?

yeah, ThreatFire is controlled by PCTools, themselves acquired by Symantec...so, they haven't just been approached by Norton, they belong to them now. It's a HIPS "like" software...tried it a very long time ago, not supposed to replace an AV and doesn't match a real HIPS.

Open a cmd window. CD to the root of the usb drive. Enter command "dir /ah" does this show those files/folders listed in "Autorun.inf" Yes: Enter command "attrib -h -r -s *.* /S /D" this will unhide files and allow their deletion. Now try to delete those files and folders listed in "Autorun.inf" and finally delete "Autorun.inf" No: Enter command...

Well thanks for more of the info. And nothing used as little resources (from what I have found) as AVG but i dont like the not being able to quit thing. Also it was attacking my games including Crysis, CoD WaW,and CoD MW2. Threatfire has been great so far.

Just wanted to update this a bit. Been waiting a few days for Avast to get back to normal...about ready to make the switch. Stopping AVG Watchdog in services isn't an option. It's greyed-out. In theory, Manual and Disable are startup options, but that's really not beneficial to me. I find it hard to believe that AVG went this route, but.....I'll just go somewhere else....

FileHippo for programs/drivers may be faster if you have dialup. No flashy front page. http://filehippo.com/

Question about making a Video DVD
Published (2009-12-11 12:53:00)
Hey guys, I have a question -- I have Nero 7 Ultra and I'm trying to burn a bunch of football highlight videos in .mp4 format to a DVD so I can watch them on a regular DVD player. Nero launches Nero Vision to have me create the DVD but it continues to crash. I suspect Nero Vision may not be compatible with Vista? Burning ROM & burning data discs is fine, but Nero Vision itself crashes. Are there any programs out there you'd...

I've always used Handbrake - free to use open source and it rips DVDs straight to .mp4 or whatever you like. The front end can be a little intimidating but its actually pretty intuitive and straight forward
