There was some overlap between this countdown and the last fall 1981 countdown I reviewed several weeks ago, but there still were some interesting rarities. This countdown was very heavy on the "light rock" (as was typical in the early 80's), with some notable exceptions such as "Start Me Up", which really stood out! Some of the notable rarities: 40. I Want You, I Need You- Chris...

They would have to have numerous excellent airchecks of Murray. I understand that Wolfman taped almost everything he did on radio. Most jocks didn't.

...kicked off with Boston's #22 single "Long Time" at 11PM Central time here when the switch was made. Nice to hear that one,and a non-top tenner. Segued into Walter Egan's "Magnet & Steel." Didn't listen much after that, but the ID display wasn't working at that point. Should be interesting to see what the day brings for song selection....

I'm so glad that they finally got the DJ's back at the 90's! Now, i can finally make requests, without having to wait for them forever to play them. However, I've only been able to get through on Wed-Fri after 3:00 PM. On weekends, I get the voice mail, even though there are DJ's there. Anyone else have the same problem?

My favorite XM channel has always been the 60's, but it appears to me that since the merger the regular playlist has been cut even more significantly than the cut of a couple of years ago. Yes, they will still play a lower charting song once or twice an hour, but for the most part its just constant "Sugar Sugar," or "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" twice a day. It has even reached the point ...

There's a story in todays " USA Today" on the XM/Sirius merger for anybody thats interested. Its in the entertainment section of the paper. Midway through the story there is a section that says "...Regardless,subscribers raised questions. Thousands of comments, pro and con, were posted on XMfan.com's discussion forums..." Nice to see the attention there, and even later in the story there is ...

Time for another wildly speculative thread about another XM channel's future. I'm only 35, and I'm not ashamed to say that the '40s on 4 is one of my favorite of XM's music channels. Not only the songs and artists themselves, but the whole presentation and sensibility of the channel. Marlin Taylor and Bob Moke are geniuses. So, will the Savoy Express keep highballin' around the ...

I missed last week's 70s countdown due to the schedule change...I usually recorded it on Wednesday nights. I was sorry to miss 1978 - one of my favorite years for music! But anyway, I heard some interesting 1973 hits on this week's countdown...although there weren't many (if any) one hit wonders this week. 38. Sweet Understanding Love - Four Tops Last played during "IT" - one of ...

Phlash Phelps just mentioned that the two 60's channels will officially merge tomorrow--and it appears that Phlash will do the mornings. Is that what it sounded to anyone else?

You guys hear Rick this am announce the new lineup. He's still running mornings till noon and I assume remains PD. The Sirius/MTV jocks handle afternoon and nights. No word on our favorite AT40 at WT40 countdowns. Glad they ditched that stupid Big 80s name.

My god, wasn't he just awful? Speaking rubbish between every song, playing the Beatles, asking the kids to leave the room "to get some ice cream" because he's about to play "Annie Had a Baby" was just pathetic. He annoyed the shiat out of me, and did not help my headache. He's WAY overpaid for three shows a week, and he has a producer! Matt the Cat was MUCH more entertaining, did a ...

After Wolfman Jack this afternoon, Motormouth was doing an apparently new Sweet 16 show. I tuned in near the end, just in time to hear him play the No. 4 song, Stevie Wonder's "Heaven Help Us All." Then he played the No. 3, R. Dean Taylor's "Indiana Wants Me." Then I arrived at my destination and had to turn off the radio. Two questions: Is 1970 now considered part of the '60s? (Yeah, I ...
