No advance reservation is needed for shuttle or taxi service to the Strip Hotels. Yes, you go outside the baggage reclaim area of exits 7 through 13 for shuttle service. Taxi service are exit gates 1 through 4. $6.00 to $6.50 per person for shuttle (several companies) and the average cost to a strip hotel for a taxi is between $15-$20 dollars. Remember that the taxi fare is for up to 5 people and it is the fastest way to a strip Hotel.

Welcome - our winters have been getting a little colder as of late. We have had a couple of snows so far - but we are much more mild than the rest of the state. Right now there is no snow and we are having an Indian Summer with temps in the 50's and 60's. Having lived in Washington and Oregon I can assure you that these temps do not feel as bad as they do there. Winters usually drop to the cold temps (0 or below) for a few...

Marriott hotels

The redwoods run all along the coastal mountains (and, generally, US 101) in northern California, starting around San Francisco and up until about Crescent City. The most famous spots, with some of the largest trees, are by Klamath, which is north of Eureka. But it's also a sparsely populated, sparsely developed, somewhat anti-corporate chain region, so Marriott properties are few and far between. It looks like there's a...

That's a couple of long drives, to go from Dallas to Denver to Vegas- would you go back to the west coast to fly back? or try to return to Dallas? The drive from Denver to Vegas would take you right across the Continental Divide, and through the Rocky Mountains. Going through Utah, you could visit the Arches National Park, Bryce CAnyon Natl. Park and Zion Natl. Park. All three are some of the most beautiful and notewaorthy national...

I will try to get some information to you on wheelchair accessibility in Chicago. I do some work with the Wheelchair Bulls Basketball team and have some contacts who I will ask for some information and/or website links. It may take a day or two for them to respond.

I typically use hotels.com for a combo flight and hotel package you need to decide if you want to stay on the strip, or downtown, or off the beaten path I like staying at the main intersection of the Wynn, Treasure Island, Venetian/Pallazo, and Fashion Island shopping center - lots of activity there TI is the cheapest, however, you can get deals if you look - I once got the Wynn for $49/night Golden Nuggett has some $49/39 deals too and its a...

The first time I was in New York I was on my own. No internet websites then! It was in many ways quite a daunting experience. The hotel lobby had masses of information and I decided to book one of the tours that would collect me - and about 20 others from the hotel, for a very full day's tour. It was the right decision. I guess most people were in pairs but there were about 6 solo travellers. The on-board guide was excellent and I...

Wearing a helmet

Helmets, long pants, and if possible a leather jacket! One of the dental hygienists I visit told me the story of how she and her husband were propelled off the bike, and how her skin and head were saved by the leather jacket and helmet. Hearing her story I cannot imagine anyone ever wanting to ride without the proper equipment.

NYC has so many restaurants running the gamut in price range. For the big splurge The River Cafe, at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge. Fresh seafood- Oyster Bar in Grand Central Terminal. For Italian right in Times Sq, Carmine's- it's touristy, but the food is still excellent. Or in Greenwich Village Rocco Rest, 181 Thompson St. Actually a good place to find a variety of good restaurants is Bleecker St, many of them ethnic,...

Hi - I have used the "budget" buses out of NY to Boston and found them to be an excellent option to expensive flights and trains. I have taken the bus from Greensboro NC to New York previously (Greyhound). It's quite a ride but they make a few short stops for passengers to get something to eat or strech their legs. Be sure to bring things to do (there will likely be movies running).

If you're trying to earn points through the Marriott rewards program, I'm pretty sure you could search the marriott Web site for "Redwoods" and whichever beach you want to be close to.

You should try an RV storage facility, although they often only go by the month. I'm sure one of them would arrange something with you though.

Check out the Big Apple Greeters. They are a great organization of volunteers that love to show off their city at no charge. Wonderful friendly people.

To whom are you addressing this question?
All pages and tips on VT are written by individual members. They may or may not include street addresses. If you want to let individual members know that street addresses would be useful, you will need to leave a comment on their pages or send them a VTmail.

Just a handful of states where it's free, but others have various regulations. We had a big discussion about this some time back, but if this following site is uptodate, it gives you a list of the different state requirements:

I hope it's a factual site :-)

The two best steakhouses in New York (if not anywhere) are:
Keen's Steakhouse and Peter Luger's. Luger's has two locations, one in Great Neck, Long Island; the other is in Brooklyn. Keen's is located in Manhattan. Check out their websites. http://www.keens.com http://www.peterluger.com

It may depend on your nationality - and be at the discretion of the consulate. An Indian national may get as short as a few months to as long as 10 years. I suspect the case may be the same for your friend. Don't forget the validity of the visa starts when it's issued, not when you travel.

I would drive to Harrisburg and take Amtrak in. It will not be cheap. It is on the WEEKDAYS where parking is a problem. 12/5 is a Saturday.

Absolutely cheapest is to take the CTA blue line from O'Hare into downtown, get off at Jackson ( which will be the corner of Jackson and Dearborn ) and walk six blocks west.
Easiest is probably to take the blue line into Clarke/Lake and get a cab.
