I was in a very similar situation! The guy didn't do a thing about it, and eventually I got over him. He still aparently likes me now, but I've moved on...he still has a girlfriend by the way. So, as far as I'm concerned he can stay with her.

I think I know where you are coming from on this. When you aren't used to being treated much like you count (not necessarily from him) and he's given mixed messages - says don't spend and then spends and you'd had a bit of a tiff on top of it, it's confusing. Apparently whatever you were upset abouthe doesn't regard as deal breaker and he must really want to spend time with you learning to cross country. Learning...

I asked him what he wanted last week and he told me he'd like some clothes but only to go to the 2nd hand shop! It's true, I'm bad a receiving gifts so I"ll just have to suck it up, haha. He brought me a bunch of workout clothes that didn't fit him yesterday. So I think I'll go get him some that fit. ...and give him a b/j as per yellow's suggestion.

So nice to hear stories like this. Do what you think. You know this man's mentality and financial situation more than anyone here. Good luck.

I was honest and told him it was too big for my wrist. We went back to the jewler to try to find a second choice. I couldn't find anything that I like within the same price range, so he returned it and kept the money. I actually agree with OTYA.. It's the gift, and when a man...

I'm sorry....why is it akward? He got the bonus not you, and you two had an agreement so thats what you planned for. He didn't come to you and say "hun I got this bonus lets do xyz" Accept the gift because at the end of the day thats your dude and he can get whatever he wants to get for you. You must not be used to being spoiled...feels awkward the first time but after this it will be alllllll gravy baby

To me, personally, this is the best way that I've ever heard it described: Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of...

You wanna be with someone who would date a girl who he doesn't like as much as his best female friend? What makes you think he won't do the same to you, if you end up dating him? In any case, I agree with your friends, you should leave it alone for now. You don't want to participate in someone else's possible cheating. It's as bad as doing it yourself.

This is a really good idea. We need more positive stories around here! Congrats on having such a wonderful man by your side. From what you say you don't sound materialistic perse, but you are travelling down a slippery slope. Some of things you are saying could be construed as self centered. Just because you like to feel "taken care of" doesn't mean that he should oblige and shower you with gifts. Taken care of also implies an emotional component, sexual component and an intellectual component. Some people ...

Don't be so hard on yourself. I doubt very much that they are judging you, I mean you did go to school in NYC and had a job there until you were laid off, it's not like you graduated from highschool and have just been sitting around your parents house doing nothing since then. Even though they are still in highschool and haven't felt the direct effects of the economy yet, I'm sure they have ...

This is a tough one. To some degree i think love may mean something different with everyone but i see love as where you cannot imagine your life without the other person. Love is a connection you have developed with someone that you havent developed with anyone else. (this connection is different amongst love for family and friends vs relationships) What do you think love is nix?

Why would you want to let go if it is working? I know LDRs are difficult to maintain, I am into one. I have to be honest, it is very challenging. But if you love someone, you are going to do anything to make it work - unless, the other party is no longer interested, which I hope is not the case for you, emily100. So tell us what compels you to feel this way?
