I've seen them being used at EKCH airport as well. It's a special Air-stair for the disabled passengers. If you look at the first pictures, there are wheelchairs near the nosegear.

Sorry to be pedantic, but: If they are reading this, then to the person who described the plane as being 'withdrawed', I think you'll find the term is actually 'Withdrawn' , and that, upon it's 'Withdrawal' , it was sent to the desert.

I think the best way to go about this...would be to looking threw Airliners.net/jetphotos.net...look at the dates at which the photo's were taken, and maybe that will give you a ruff guess as to what time period you're looking at...I was nice enough to do this for you.... Looks like an exit from Oneworld. I think there was talks about American, British and Qantas coming up with a plan of their own for JAL. I know AMR is doing some capital raising but I doubt BA can really do much.

The old one looks so much like Mexicana's new colors, but its not as nice on the design front. I think I prefer the new one, especially the font. They could have added more to the tail though.

Great vid Rex. Funny, i was reading about the shuttle program yesterday. When i was last in Florida there was a chance i might have got to see a take-off but the plan was changed. If these babies go out of service next year it'll be sad not to see them. I hope the UK gets one for a museum

The mechanisms represents different eras in aviation... Boeing's doors were the first widely used ones, then with the Trijets, doors could be opened by pulling them up into the jets body, and Airbus uses the most modern side-doors. I read somewhere that these were to open more easily than others.

Wow, just heard about this. It was Avient's first and only MD-11 (Z-BAV) and it was just delivered to them 8 days ago, on November 20, 2009. She's an ex Varig aircraft ( PR -LGD). R.I.P.

I guess the door design is a result of an airlines specific seat capacity. Number of seats in the Economy, Business, First. Size of the galley etc. The Boeing 767 has also many different door designs!
