Acronis will not allow me to re-clone the drive. It's getting a bit sticking now. Fortunately the partitions are different (orig & clone) but the drive letters have been switched (orig to clone). I know the orig because of the partition sizes. Not sure what to do now.

By "non-op" do you mean the drive stoped functioning, or the program doing the partition changes was non-responsive (I did say this would take a long time), or you can't see it anymore? If things got messed up, don't clone again since the partitions are the wrong size, best to create new partition the proper size then copy the data to the appropriate partition. I say again, please thread carefully! Don't worry...

Tx Mattman for the reply.Although this is a very interesting book I did not find anything that solved my problem.Too bad.I'll just keep looking. From what i make of it,this problem originates from a piece of hardware.Unfortunately I dont know which one.I certainly did not install or uninstall any hardware.so where does it come from.

This little tweak might help: Windows XP Icon Cache Are you experiencing icon lag, while browsing thru all your Start icons and programs? Do you have a smaller menu delay and your icons need ages to load? No need to give up. Just delete the IconCache.db file from your profile directory (usually /Documents and Settings/Username/Local Settings/Application Data).

[Aside: if the system does not have a floppy disk drive, turn off the FDD Seek function in the BIOS .] It seems to report that no HDDs are installed. There is a possibility the HDD has failed, ALTHOUGH it might be that the data in the HDD 's boot sector is corrupt. Identify the manufacturer of the HDD , go to their website and look up their testing utilities. I have had the testing utilities "see" the drive, even though...

An even easier way would be to download one of these BootLoader disk creators Choose the one that you think is most suitable. XP2P3D has the greatest number of selections. The file name indicates the configuration of boot selections that you will receive when using the creation. 2p means a dual partitioned drive while 3D means a total of 3 installed drives to choose from. That's more selections than the average user needs but trying each...

Set up an Explorer window as you want it .....
Then Go to Tools > Folder Options View and hit the Apply to Folders button - wording may be slightly different in XP - that is the Win 7 text.

So, should the 'Initial Size' I mention above (Windows says not less than 2MB) be 1.5 X RAM and the 'Maximum' the same also?
I don't believe my 'freezing' problem was caused by the 'No Page' option since I only set that option last night.
Many thanks!

Download Autorun fix
Double click on fix.bat
When done, restart computer, and see, if autorun works.
If not, reverse changes, by double clicking on backup.reg created in same location where you ran fix.bat from.

I discovered some personal financial files and photos and I downloaded and installed Eraser. I erased all the ...

Hi fdamp,
The updates are supposed to create a restore point when they're installed so when they cause a problem, you can uninstall and restore. Do you know what the updates were and can you uninstall them? Then try sysrestore on the 2nd? It's possible the updates may be causing the problem.
As far as doing sysrestore incrementally instead of "pick-'n-click", I'm afraid I don't ...

Steve, I'm not sure if there is a right/wrong, better/worse way to go since I've never done this before.
Would you have a look here...
Have some questions on partioning a backup drive
And tell me what you think?
Am I over analyzing this?
I'm wondering if I should just format the drive and then let Acronis make the copy and leave it at that.

Coolpal,
Right Click on the Task Bar.
Scroll up to Toolbars
Then Select Language Bar
You should see a Box with a ? in it. Next to it is a Down Arrow. Put the Cursor on the
arrow and right click on it. Click on Settings. This is where you can add the Font.
