No worries I hope that solves it. It might be worth looking into updating your video and chipset drivers so you can return hardware acceleration to how it was. Let us know how you get on. Tom

UPDATE: Tom, your apprentice is a Genius\Einstein\Savant compared to me. The first snag I ran into was "#2: Copy the whole contents . . .". Well, right-click the XP CD, select Copy and paste to the XP folder; or, open the disk and copy the contents from the right pane? It can be read two ways. I tried the first and there was only one folder in the C:\XP folder (X1APCCP_EN) and I got the error (waaaay later on): You've...

You are in "close combat" with the audio drivers! You are making changes in Show Hidden Drivers which might be exacerbating the situation. It might mean low level drivers are incorrect. I haven't been there or done this geothom31's suggestion might get you back to basic drivers, but I might expect you have gone past that point. You should let us know if you have made modifications in Show Hidden Devices. Where do...

Hi All, Thanks for the help. I have my drive formatted and Windows loaded. Things are running much better and I can get into SAFE mode now. I have checked that several times while installing drivers, updates, and software. It's amazing what you gather over 7 years! There are some things that will not go back on the system. Hopefully, things will continue to run smooth for another 7 years. Thanks again. Mike

It may be the cursor speed that needs to be set to slower:
When you are in a editable text area, Microsoft Windows displays a text cursor at the point at which the next character will appear. This cursor may be fixed or blinking to catch your attention. Sometimes, when the text cursor blinks very fast, it can prove to be distracting or you may not be able to locate it because ...

On my favourite "always present" application, i.e. \windows\EXPLORER.exe, I have 3 copies of the "documents" folder. One on top, before Hard Disk C, the second inside C, the third on the bottom, under my user name.
How may I get rid of useless 2 of them?

Hi all,
I tried to do a sfc /scannow but it asked for my XP SP2 CD. Well, my XP CD is SP1 .
I found several instructions on how to make a new CD with XP and SP2 on it.
However, I'm stuck. Here's what I've done so far: I created 3 new folders on the C drive (XP, XPBootImage, XPSP2); I copied the original XP disk to the XP folder; I downloaded SP2 from the net to the XPSP2 folder; ...

Hi and welcome the BBS (but you might be surprised at my response),
The ACLXMNTR.exe is for you main audio controller, that is, Realtek AC97 Audio.
Me, I would find the original drivers, you were probably supplied with the original drivers on a CD, but sometimes manufacturers put them on the C: drive. You should put your system specifications in your windowsBBS user profile
