Two questions I just thought of ?
1. With the NIC being on the motherboard - is it enabled in the BIOS ?
2. Is the Network card disabled in Windows ?

Settings
Network Connections
Then Click on the Local Area Connection to open it up.
There are 2 buttons. One shows Properties and the Other should show Disable.

Sorry I misunderstood. I thought your Dell was connected directly to the Laptop. I moved your thread back to networking.

The printer probably has a new ip address. You'll have to remove the printer in each comp and reinstall it, or set the printer to its original
static ip .

0. Unplug modem.
1. Unplug router.
2. Turn off comp.
3. Turn on modem, wait until it fully synchronizes, about 30 seconds.
4. Connect modem to router WAN (Internet) port using
ethernet cable.
5. Plug in router, wait until it synchronizes with modem, about 15-20 seconds.
6. Connect comp to router LAN port (port 1,2,3 or 4) using ethernet cable.
7. Turn on comp.

Are you separately installing the printer using the Brother CD, or are you using the default "add Printer" in XP and then looking for the printer on the network -> Which should find the file for you ?!
Troubleshoot with this please.
