Actually, I mis-spoke when I said that we needed to hear from both of these guys. We have actually heard from AWOL several times already in regards to his intentions next year. In fact, it was AWOL that started this thread.

Totally forgot to say that- nice, Rainman. (Though, I'm not recommending the book to anyone before I see it, I'm sure it'll be pretty good) But, I have no idea when Awol's guide is coming out, so why not get a cheap 2009 Appalachian Pages? (I'd rather have a 2010 guide, but I'll live)

Not sure I understand why the under currents of angst exists over this new guidebook. I look at this as an opportunity to get another piece of gear. I buy all the guide books. That goes along with the 4 packs, 3 tents, 5 sleeping bags, 3 or 4 cook set set ups and the many stoves I own (afraid to actually inventory those). Has anyone found a place to download the German AT documentary "Durch die Wildnis Amerikas"? It is mentioned in this months Journeys. Not being a BitTorrent type of person, I downloaded a BitTorrent client and tried to start the download from various sites but no joy. Maybe it is just a time zone issue and if I wait long enough it will download. I hope it has subtitles! Please post here if you know where it can be found. BTW...
