Night Moves, if I recall correctly, you are working with ADP on a Canadian "Type-3" powerchair, and were needing to select a provider and powerchair model. Where are you in the process, and is there anything that we can do to help? Thanks.

I've seen a setup where someone hocked up a 4 wheel childrens wagon to the back of a scooter that held an extra 2 12V batteries to get more distance.

YA! It was fun but it doesn't last very long. Only a few minutes (hehehe) Do relax and enjoy your chair, they really are pretty stable. I have 4000R now and it rides good but is dog slow. I'm going to look for bigger motors to see if I can put them on and I have to find a way to put bigger batteries in it too. The range is way to short for this area. Anyway have fun and go for it they wont usually dump you (hehehe)

This does not happen every time. They have replaced some of the wiring when I first got my chair.Just wondering if you have an idea

Windjammer, I'm always glad to look up and inform individuals of their orders' status, namely because I know how agonizing it can be simply waiting, not knowing when your new mobility product -- read that, newly-found liberation -- will arrive. Fortunately, most of our orders ship well within only a few days, so delivery on our end is typically very, very quick. Because of the amount of orders ...

Chris, powerchairs, indeed, run two, 12-volt deep-cycle batteries to power the 24-volt electronics. In theory, one could harness a second set of batteries, and use a simple switch to turn the power consumption from one set to the other, or even wire them so that the system remained 24-volts, but with double the capacity -- that is, with twice the batteries, one could travel twice as far. ...

Matt, charging time is based on three factors: Battery size, level of depletion (how dead they are), and charger size. If one has Group-24 batteries that are dramatically depleted, using a 5A charger, they could very well take 12 hours to charge. On the other hand, if one has Group-24 batteries that are only depleted, say, 25%, using an 8amp charger, they may only take three or four hours to ...

I'm sorry to hear of the chair's issue. Based on your description, it
definitely sounds like a loose or bad connection, where motor connections
are being jostled or strained by movement or a shifting component when
traveling down a ramp. Your provider should check the routing of the
harnessing, make sure that the controller is properly secure, etc., and
contact Quantum tech service for assistance...

Providers and local manufacturer reps will provide loaner powerchairs in many critical situations -- namely when a consumer's powerchair is going to be out of commission for a long time and he or she has no back-up, bedridden. However, because the greatest need warrants receiving such a loaner, not everyone can receive a loaner powerchair for an extended period. Based on your description, it ...

Based on your description, it sounds like you're using ADP as the funding source. If that's the case, then you have a host of registered vendors in your region, including Motion Specialties and Shoppers Home Health Care, to name two. And, ADP, in fact, requires that you shop around and select your preferred vendor before ADP will fund a mobility product. Again, based on your description, it ...

When traveling down a steep ramp, typically one should proceed with as
little forward power as possible, to where the resistance of the motors
slows the powerchair, using the joystick namely to steer side-to-side.
Also, when traveling up a steep ramp, minimal speed should be used, as
well. Slower speeds simply offer better control for such maneuvering.
Lastly, please ensure that these ramps ...

Peter, it sounds like a resettable communication error that likely won't
reoccur. Nevertheless, if it occurs again, please contact your provider, so
that they can read the chair's error log and work with Quantum tech service
to resolve any issues. Thank you.
