Based on your follow-up, the symptoms suggests an issue with the electromagnetic brake, most likely not fully disengaging, placing drag on the motor, causing both the veering and heating of the motor (and the speed bump was likely just coincidental). I understand that you're in a difficult situation, so I'll appreciate it if you'll please email me your powerchair's serial number and your full contact information to...

Hi, I have a 4000R with high speed motors and love it. I live in Arkansas. I found I have plenty of torque but to each his own. What I'm trying to point out is just what Big24fan said David, try them out. Only you can be the one that is or is not satisfied.

LOL, no Terry he did not. At least I can't find it, lol. But he is sending an armrest cargo bag. You know use ladies need our purses and you know I will use it. That is so nice of him. I did not exspect it at all. How sweat of him. How goes your order, Terry? Is NSM giving you any more trouble with the order? Or is the insurance company still playing around?

reverse polarity -...
Published (2009-11-20 16:10:00)
Mark, Actually two very informed DME types told me that I could make my 34 pound travelscoot go in reverse with a reverse polarity switch. I love to travel by air but my legs are getting weaker and I need to use my legs to back the travelscoot up. So being the mechanic and scientist I am, I did a google search and went to www.1728.com and learned that one reversed the polarity in an electric motor by using various types of switches. This was...

Hi Mark. The rep's name is Ralph Appoldt. The provider is Care Medical, Salem, Oregon, branch; the name of the tech who has been working on my chair is Eric. Thanks in advance for any assistance you might be able to provide.

Hi Mark, I've been a fairly silent member of WJ for years now (under 2 names). I value your opinion and integrity when commenting on finding the right chair. After over 38 years using a chair, I know me pretty well. I'm getting ready to get a new power chair and my vendor likes the R4000. I saw one in the store. I use an Invacare Arrow right now (about 6 years); previously a quickie p300. My question for you is: from your viewpoint...

R4000 vs Invacare Arrow -...

David, I might be able to give you a little insight on this matter. I used a Ranger-X (about the same as an Arrow) for about 9 years before I got a Q6000. The Q6K didn't suit my needs at all because it just wasn't as good outdoors in steep loose terrain as my Ranger. After about a year, circumstances allowed me to get another chair and I decided to go with the R4000. The R4K suites me much better than the Q6K and is quite similar to...

Q6kZ provider update -...
Published (2009-11-26 19:05:00)
Mark after several months my provider's tech returned to my house yesterday to make some adjustments to my chair. While he was here he mentioned the reminder settings for my chair. I had actually forgotten about the issue and decided it was never going to work for me. The tech said the problem now is that the company (A&A Home Health) doesn't want to buy the new programmer that is required to setup the reminder features. The...

Windjammer, I'm always glad to look up and inform individuals of their orders' status, namely because I know how agonizing it can be simply waiting, not knowing when your new mobility product -- read that, newly-found liberation -- will arrive. Fortunately, most of our orders ship well within only a few days, so delivery on our end is typically very, very quick. Because of the amount of orders ...

Thanks Mark. Yes. It goes straight when the breaks are released and it is free wheeling. And yes the pc repair guy also noticed it was pulling to the right and the motor was getting hot. sounds like the motor. Ouch. I was hoping it would be an easy fix. Guess it is just a coincidence that the motor went weak when I went over the speed bump.

David, thank you for your kind words. In all seriousness, my viewpoint
doesn't matter whatsoever on this one -- only yours does. Have your
provider arrange a demo for you to try the R4000, see how you like it
compared to your Arrow, and go from there. Your provider can have his
opinion, I can have mine, but neither matter -- only you can decide which
is best for you. ...If you have technical ...

Granny, no, I don't use a scooter due to the severity of my disability. However, considering that my company engineered and manufactures the GoGo, I'd better know its components work! The GoGo doesn't use a "switch," but a resistive throttle pot (a Clarostat, to be exact). Via programming or wiring, it can be configured to control forward or reverse by left/right or right/left movements of the...

Robert, thank you for your detailed post, and welcome to the site. Please allow me to address the technology, and how it may best fit your needs. Based on your description, it sounds like you need and qualify for a 400lb.-or- over weight capacity powerchair, which both the original Q6000XL and newer Q6000Z-HD models fit. In comparison to the Q6000XL, the Q6000Z-HD's front casters increased in ...

When traveling down a steep ramp, typically one should proceed with as
little forward power as possible, to where the resistance of the motors
slows the powerchair, using the joystick namely to steer side-to-side.
Also, when traveling up a steep ramp, minimal speed should be used, as
well. Slower speeds simply offer better control for such maneuvering.
Lastly, please ensure that these ramps ...

Timm, the Spring Green is traditional "Kawasaki Green," so if you're familiar with the motorcycle color, they are the same. And, that color isn't available on the Q6000Z. Here's a picture (with pediatric seating). Thank you.
