Very true. Assou-Ekotto had a shocker and Bale played to expectations. But credit to Coleman, he was their best outfield player.

Taggart is insisting that he has the dosh to spend if he wants. Quote: "It has been said I do not have the money," said Ferguson. "But the money is there if I wanted to use it. I didn't see any value in the summer and I don't see any value at the moment either. I am happy with the players I already have at the club." Yay - debate over then. 'Cos we are all happy with the players we've...

I do so love being "enlightened". Or patronised, which is the other way to look at it... If you want to think of United as being in some sort of cash-starved financial crisis Millhouse, you go ahead. The only way to service a debt of that kind (which is a perfectly normal & standard business practice) is to invest in the side, continue winning, & continue to generate income. As for Anderson, I'd rather...

I'm sure Italy will make it hard work in their group. 2 draws and a third match win. The US will be fired up against England. We could lose that if not on our game. The other two games should be straightforward although Algeria with their African pride might put up more resistance than we might expect. South Africa could well be the first hosts not to reach the second round but they said that about the US in 1994. Still tough group....

After this weekends football no comments? The clash of the cash went City's way with a worthy win. and now the gap is shortened to 3 points for Utd.

Not a bad assessment, As a pool fan I hope we can do it this year, we've still got the main core of our squad and added in Johnson who will give us a bit of attacking options at fullback. Xabi'll be a big loss if he goes, not many players who can control the tempo of the game like him. I still think we'll see a 1 more big signing if Xabi goes, maybe Silva or Aqualani of Roma. Utd ...

Robbed, really. And by a really cr@p outfit - it will be seen as an even worse decision if they somehow (with the help of more miracles, Msr. Platini) win the competition as they don't deserve to be their in the first place. Although I thought France should have got the penalty when Given brought down Anelka in Extra Time as there was contact - the Irish were lucky not to lose their keeper, ...

Dare I say it but Spurs are looking a real force for next season with some of the signings they've made! Bentley, Modric, Dos Santos, Gomes and Bostock - don't know much about the last two - and bids in for Capel and may be Pavlyuchenko. They look like better players than they bought last summer anyway.

I'd forgotten we had this thread! We were utter, utter pish. Really awful, and going a man down didn't help. Unfortunately it's looking like we won't be going to South Africa, but at least I'll have plenty of other teams to support hehe How times have changed from when we were beating the likes of France home & away. :( Burley has to go.

As an antidote to the Bad boy footballers thread I've decided to create the "Good boy footballers thread" - balance in the world is restored. The first of hopefully many posts: Didier Drogba donates £3 million to help build a hospital in Ivory Coast. And apparently Abramovich has agreed to match it pound for pound. Outstanding.
