Do you need to stay on O2, one of the reasons I went to Vodafone, is the ability to swap between a "normal" data phone and BB, with no change in tariff...Sim only this costs me £25/mth, data, 600 mins, unlimited texts.

My understanding is the browser browses through RIM's servers, so needs the capitals (meaning it's connected) third party browsers like Opera can go through a different APN.

I'm on the verge of getting the 8900 and was intrigued as to what the benefits of owning a blackberry device are apart from the obvious.
I notice from the sigs/profiles that a LOT of the forummers here own the bold or 9700 along with the iPhone. Apart from emails what else do they bring to the table?
I'm not too fussed about having my emails on the go. What draws ...

Not sure if people are aware, but some of us have a What Moble Blackberry Messenger group going on Blackberry Groups. Mainly for a bit of chat and general banter or sometimes for for instant help with blackberry problems

are the only differences 3G and excel/word/powerpoint/pdf editor on the 9700 but not on the 8900? does the 8900 have a 3.5mm jack? the 8900 is a damn sexy looking device (thinking of getting one myself!)...but what are the main differences spec wise?

I currently have a Blackberry Bold with an Orange Panther contract, which includes unlimited data usage.
I still have a while left until the contract expires, and I was considering switching to a Nokia E-series phone. This would mean selling the Bold and putting my current SIM card into the new (unlocked) Nokia.

On my Bold 9000 I had an icon for the blackberry "push channel"? for local weather as seen in the attachment.
It took me forever to find it again to add to my 9700, but its a different service, and a different icon (see second attachment)

I've been noticing the wifi has been dropping out on my blackberry when I use it at home.
When I say "dropping out" I mean the WiFi logo is still on the screen, but it is greyed out.
I never use wifi elsewhere to compare it to and dont use it a huge amount at home.
