beautifully done but I would lighten it up a bit--on my screen it looks very dark. Could simply be my monitor.

Ghost Gums at ernabella S.Australia
Published (2009-11-26 08:33:00)
This is a wonderful composition painted with great skill. I can offer two ideas for improvement As the rocks move back in space, you've warmed them in hue and darkened them. This treatment visually makes them advance in space which gives a compressed feeling to the painting. Glazing them to lighten and blue them will create a much better sense of space. Similarly, you've got a very hard edge between those rocks and the sky. Softening...

Love the contrast and the way you handled the rocks. I get the feeling of a blazing hot day. Really a good painting.

I'm a bit confused about where the roof line is going. However, I do
greatly enjoy the temperature in this picture. Neat shape to the leftside
large tree. Only other suggestion would be breaking up the light striking
the side of the structure, rather than the uniform level hitting it right
now, putting one in mind of clouds unseen between the light source and the
building. It's a palette that I ...

I notice that there could be a little more light used for the eye on the left.
Other than that, it's amazing and I would never guess it took 20 minutes. You must have been the best in the class.

I like the compostion from what I can make out. I think you need more
contrast between the tree and its background to make it stand out better.

Why not indeed? I really like this. The oddest thing abut this may be the title (and why, if this is a stone in a meadow, you put a butt icon on the thread)?
For me this reads very organic, with a hint of night, drapes and bedroom. But it may just be my mind playing trick on me...

Thats really a great sketching. You have captured the expressions well. But the close-up of the face looks not very neat, may be you have used your eraser a lot or may be its just in the photograph. Also I feel the hairs of the lady should be little darkened....

Harry, I'm an Oil Man who at times plays with pastels and acrylics. Never tried the egg tempera. However, after looking at the BEAUTIFUL painting, I'm curious about it.
A wonderfully beautiful painting,,,(I think I already said that!)

A terrific painting. Perspective is very strong. One is drawn into the

Hey Ej, missed you dude. Long time no paint. Wehre you been anyway. I'm lurking on the ab/con forum these days after I got caught up doing pollock-esque paintings this summer.
I see you have stuck with your usual colour scheme. It is harmonious as usual, but it could use some small bit of accent colour, oh, like bright blue or red....
Good to see you again, in person or in pix

Love the comp, with the circle of the tree on the right and the break out
into amorphous shapes going left. And really great variety of chalk stroke
markings throughout. Excellent piece!

Haven't I seen this before? I like it tho, and its softness. My only nit is
that the white tree is a little confusing, only in distance, it needs a bit
to help it out. I also wouldn't have centred the arch. it's still a nice
painting. The shadows could be a tad darker too.
